    Hello all,

I’ve been doing research and narrowed it down But need help deciding between the two tire choices. ive never had Toyos but had 3 sets of Ko2. Great tires that lasted 50k+ miles. Only issue was needed balancing a little more often. Size will be 275/70/18 E load. Use is approximately 95% road 5% hunting, fishing, camping and towing.

    ko2 pros:
    Aggressive style
    Performance
    3ply
    Cost all 4 installed $1k
    Cons:
    Maybe balancing issues
    Older tread design
    58lbs a tire

    AT3 pros:
    Performance
    Modern tread design
    50lbs a tire
    Cons:
    2 ply
    Cost 4 installed $1200

I do like KO2 aggressive style better but AT3 are good too.

I had KO2’s on my last truck. They were awesome other than not being able to hold a balance for more than 500 +\- miles. That’s the main reason why I won’t be getting them again. The Toyo AT3 is my leading candidate right now

There are quite a few peeps here that run the Toyo and most seem happy.

My ko2s took a lot of weight to balance and they are garbage on snow and ice. I'm strongly considering Toyo AT3s as my next tires

    More than a few.....
Been a ko and ko2 user for years. Lots of snow and ice time in mountains and some offroad use. 0 complaints in all those years and 0 issues with balance and not even a single flat tire. They are tougher than nails, never used any other AT tire.

same experience here. I felt they were very safe on the snow/ice and no issues with balancing (costco)

Thanks for replies! Really want to try the AT3 but since costco has the Ko2s on sale and in stock I think I’ll go that route.

so many great A/T options these days

KO2 were great for the first 20k miles.

After that they got downright SCARY in the rain.

Had 2 sets…Won’t buy them anymore

I was debating this too. I have Duratracs and they've been re-balanced 3x and still aren't right. So I asked the manager of DT which one he would recommend between KO2s and Toyo AT3s and he said go with the Toyo since they've had alot of balance issues with the KO2s.
So, hopefully this week I'll be getting those on.

Just installed new tires on my Tundra and wife’s 4Runner. Was between the K02 and the Falken Wildpeak AT3 on the Tundra. Each one had there pros and cons. I did run the K02s before and was happy with them except for the noise at higher mileage. I decided on the K02s because almost all of the DT employees were running them on their trucks.
For the 4Runner we installed Nitto Terra Grappler G2. Ran the original Terra Grapplers awhile back and was totally happy with them. Replaced the Cooper AT3s which were crap. Avoid those.

I was debating this exact same thing….I researched forums, other websites, and even scoping out locally for drivers with either set and I too will spend the majority of my time on the pavement. Most said the same thing, balancing issues on the Ko2 and complained about weight on the AT3. I guess it all comes down to personal preference really. They might be a little cheaper but are you really saving if you need to take them into the shop often for rebalancing? but then again if you get them from Costco you can get them balanced every time you go shopping :)

I’m leaning towards the AT3, don’t want to deal with balancing if I don’t have to.

Never owned the AT3's but I've had probably five different sets of KO2's across a few different 1/2 ton trucks and I don't see myself buying them anymore after my last set. I always got great mileage out of the tread. Zero complaints there. I rotated frequently so I felt I did what I could to keep them wearing the best. Really my biggest complaint was just how hard they got once they wore in. I'd lose traction on wet pavement pretty frequently when pulling out of intersections and accelerating and definitely so on snow/icy roads up here in Upper Michigan. They just wore like iron for me and drove like it, too.

Not to toss a wrench in the mess but I was looking at both of these and ended up getting the newly released Cooper Discovery Rugged Trek. Love the tire so far!
