If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it. I disconnected the negative on my battery and changed out my spark plugs. Connected the negative and started the engine. Moved the shifter to reverse, gave it some gas and it revs but doesn’t move! I then tried putting into Drive and same thing. I borrowed a code reader from a friend and it’s giving these codes in my attached pic (the speed sensor code was on prior to the spark plug change, if that matters.) I’ve checked all fuses and am fairly certain that I didn’t break any wires while under the hood. I’m at a loss as to why it won’t move now and will have to have it towed to a mechanic at this point if I can’t get it to move.

Could be the shifter bushing on the end of the shifter. Can you verify the shifter cable is operating on the side of the transmission? You will need a helper to hold the brakes while you look underneath.

Did the vehicle have a CEL before changing out the plugs? Double check all of the connections under the hood that you might have disconnected or bumped while working on it. Also, when you move the shifter, do the gear selection lights on the dash illuminate solidly or flash?

Any chance u did an oil change at the same time and accidentally drained the transmission fluid? You wouldn’t be the first to do that.

I’m unfamiliar with the first code but the second wheel speed sensor wouldn’t cause your issue. I’ve had the exact code and drive it for a couple weeks waiting for the part to show up.

@blenton and @Half Assed, thank you so much for trying to help. As it turned out, the question about possibly draining the transmission fluid instead of the oil got me thinking. My son performed my last two oil changes and did one when I replaced the spark plugs. I asked him to show me where the plug is for the oil drain and he showed me…and it WAS the transmission fluid that he drained! :angrygirl: So I drained the oil (all 18 qts of it, Lord help me) and replaced it and added transmission fluid to the tranny and yessssss! She drives again! Thank you all for the advice!!!!

Glad you were able to figure it out! And, no, it wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone do that to a Tundra. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen the exact same situation with a son or friend changing the oil and accidentally draining the ATF. I think it's partly due to the fact that the lower oil pan appears transverse to the engine bay with the drain plug offset to the side rather than the standard longitudinal oil pain with the plug centered(ish) towards the back of the oil pain.

I would recommend following the fluid level check procedure for the transmission fluid; it's quite simply, but needs to be followed closely with the fluid heated to a certain temperature. I scanner can usually monitor the temperature rather than using the pin jumper method; I have access to the OBD II via my in dash head unit, so that's what I've used to check fluid level.

Man, that’s not the best day you have ever had. At least it didn’t burn up the trans though, and hey, you know you needed to change that trans fluid anyway. :D
