I have a 2006 4.7L double Cab Limited SR5. I have engine code For a shift solenoid coming in stating High Current. I suspect it is intermittent and when i start to accelerate sometimes the rpm will go up and the shift delays then jumps into gear. As well sometime when shifting at say 80-100 KPH. it will do the same. I have the service manual and identified 3 solenoids.. VVT and 2 other ones..
Has anyone had to check these before COuld it be the solenoids themselves or connector and corrosion?
I think I have the right pins for the solenoids to voltage check them if I can get my hands on software to drive the solenoids. Does the high current code mean the solenoid coil or possibly dirty connection? Any help would be appreciated. I plan to pull the connector out on the side of the transmission and check it first and can ohms the solenoids. But since its intermittent The solenoids could read good..
I am told the solenoids should ready between 10-15 ohms.

    thnxs for any Help

The external connector can get water or moisture in it causing corrosion and faulty connections, and yes this can cause codes to be thrown, including high voltage. If I recall code P0983 (shift solenoid 'D' circuit is high) is the most common. This would normally indicate that a single or multiple solenoids are not functioning properly (allowing the flow of fluid properly causing faulty shifting).

If your transmission is similar to what's on my Gen2 in design, these are accessed by dropping the pan. You should then be able to test the solenoids in place (listen for engagement) or bench test the suspected solenoid(s) based on the codes. However, it is my understanding that faulty solenoids could bench test good even though they are faulty.

I'm sure you've already done this, but spend some time researching this online and within your manuals and you should be able to find a few examples of people diagnosing and then repairing similar issues.

Good luck, and I'm sure a few more folks w/more skill and experience than me will be jumping on here to help you out as well!

PS>>> You may want to include within your post the fault codes you're receiving, whether or not your you have a 4x4 or not, and transmission model# of your particular vehicle for reference as well.
