Has anyone had their Hewitt SAIP bypass kit fail? I had the SAIP failure, so I got the bypass kit back in 2020. Worked great...until yesterday. Got a check engine light, code read P2444. Today, truck went into limp mode and now has 3 codes (P2442, P2444, P2442P).

Was looking into Hewitt ... thought if you installed before a pump failed, it was a non issue moving forward ?!

I would call them, number on website.

Subbed for info, good luck OP !

Any luck with resolving this issue? I installed the Hewitt bypass kit in 2021 and just started receiving a P2442 code recently in my son's 2008 Tundra with the 4.7l. Interestingly enough, this issue occurred after getting a flat and installing the spare without a tpms. Replaced the tire and had no issues for three weeks and then the code comes back.

Call Hewitt's #. Chances are you'll speak with the owner. Super nice and will answer any & all questions.

I'm in the same boat haven't been a year and just got the 2443-2447 I did the full bypass 2 kit. A little frustrating considering before hand I had spent the money on the dap to delete it and it didn't work. But unlike Dap Hewitt has been great at customer service. So I problay give them a call.

I installed my Hewitt kit in 2019 as prevention. All was great until last month, started the car and got a P2440. The bad part was that I was 750 miles away from home. When I got home, I went ahead and put the blocking plates in. In retrospect I should’ve installed them in 2019 (as recommended by Hewitt), but I didn’t because others on the forums said it was unnecessary when being used as prevention.

Give them a call. We started to go the dealer route and fix it with new parts but even then that's a gamble. I'm $1700 in this between the 2 companies but the Service side of Hewitt is by far one of the best.

So I'm sure it's gonna get ironed out. I would start by checking and rechecking your connectors. Dads truck wouldn't go 30miles before the cel came back on and I went back and double squeezed the connectors and it's not come back over the last 30 miles so we will see. He drives a lot so we will see real soon. Love this truck but it's costing more than my diesel with a lot of dumb stuff toyota just dropped the ball on.

How many miles you got on the 17 ? .. Did putting on the blocking plates, clear codes and take out of limp mode?

Larry Chen did the relocation mod for the pumps, which makes the replacement easy if/when they fail. With prices of delete kits and not actually even working, will probably just have pumps replaced by dealer if they fail.

Anyone know if the continued these pumps on the 2022+ models ?

Well it's not just the pumps what about the actual actuators underneath the intake when they get stuck open or closed? That's another pain in the butt I just wasn't ready to deal with.

Mine is actually an 07 with the 5.7…it has 195,000 miles on it. Yes, I was able to clear the codes, put in the blocking plates and all is good now.

I had to pull over 15-20 times on that 750 mile trip to clear codes each time….when my check engine light came on, it went into limp mode. Clearing it allowed me to run like normal for at most 150 miles, and on the low end 2-3 miles each time. It was actually the most harrowing road trip I’ve ever made. I was praying to God that I wouldn’t go into limp mode in Houston or Dallas, and thankfully that didn’t happen.

You have to install the block off plates or it wont work in the long run.

Any updates to these kits working/not working? I ordered mine yesterday, threw a 0412 code, I cleared it, then a P2441 Code, valve is stuck closed. I got the bypass and a pressure sensor replacement for Bank 1. Am planning to install the block off plates, rolling the dice since I live in a state w/ emissions testing so we'll see how it goes.
