I have looked through all threads on multiple sites and I have done a lot of troubleshooting and I still cannot solve my issue. When I turn the truck on (both accessory and crank the engine) I hear this high pitch squeal through all speakers. I had a factory radio so I replaced the radio, checked all grounds, installed a noise filter, added a straight ground to the frame. I even had the radio unplugged and still hear this sound with power applied, if I pull the fuse it goes away. Nothing fixes this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check for an amp under front passenger seat. Amp may be shot.

High pitch scream? Have you seen any large pods laying around the driveway or yard?

+1 on the amp being the issue.

OP, there are bypass harnesses out there that will let you power your speakers from the aftermarket HU. There are some gotchas to it, but it could at least help you narrow it down to that component.

No AMP pulled the seat out and there is nothing under the carpet. Just the airbag detector mounted to the seat. Any other ideas on location?

What about behind the rear seat driver side. See if there’s an amp there.

Nothing there either. I don’t know if the non JBL systems ever came with amps? I have been researching and cannot find solid answer

Dang. Sorry for sending you on a goose chase. Some non-jbl does comes with an amp. Usually they are located in the two locations I mentioned. The only other place i would look is in the dash behind or below the radio’s cavity once you take out the radio. See if there is an amp hidden in there. If there’s nothing there, sorry I’m no help.

The only other thing I could think of is a bad ground at the HU wiring. Maybe tap the existing ground and run a new lead to a body ground point to test? There should be one in the drivers side kick panel under the parking brake.

A shot in a dark. Can you remove the radio and unplug the antenna?

Any luck with this? I have the same issue but I have a slim amp/sub piggy backing off of the amp. It used to be very seldom now if the amp/sub combo is on especially in the heat you can guarantee the screech noise. Sometimes without it plugged in it will do that.

Sounds like you have a ground loop, most likely a deteriorated or loosened ground where your sub amp is grounded to the truck. How is the amp getting signal? Do you have a line output converter or are you using the small gauge high-level inputs on the side of your amplifier?

I am assuming the sound disappears when you unplug the aftermarket radio you have?

Did you install the aftermarket H/U or did a shop do it? Pull the radio from the dash and unplug it. If the sound goes away it is certainly being induced into the audio system on either the signal side (internal radio problem, but unlikely to happen to two separate radios) or on the output side (most likely a bad factory amp as it would be the only common denominator left).

If you installed the radio yourself, have you ever tested for speaker wires before or own a multimeter that reads ohms? I can walk you through the procedure but you'll need to take the radio out of the dash.
