I plan on getting the hood bulge and grill surround in black so it can be painted red to match the truck. Anyone that did this, can I ask what yall paid to get an idea what I should be seeking as far as price and all that?

    Appreciate it!

What version of red is your truck? I only ask because I know you can get Barcelona Red grilles and bulges, but I also know Toyota has a few different reds.

Bummer. I do know there was a member that painted door handles themselves, but again, I think it was barcelona red. I'll see if I can find it to be sure.

Well, I was right, his truck was barcelona red. :( https://www.tundras.com/threads/can’t-believe-this-actually-worked.45234/

You could still try the same method if you can find a matching color. Beyond that to answer your question about cost, it all depends on the body shop. My brother got his WRX bumper repainted at my local body shop for about $200 bucks. That was to chemically strip it too. He had me do a vehicle swap with him for a bit so I could drop it off for him because the stuff in SLC was all closer to $400 for the bumper.

I was quoted $600 to remove peeling paint & repaint my 1st gen hood. So certainly less than that to simply paint some easy to deal with parts already primered.

I doubt that a grille and bulge would cost that, but I might be wrong. The pro guy only charged $200 for a chemical strip and repaint on a bumper. I don't see how a bulge and grille surround are going to be more than that.

I am thinking of doing this to see if I can save the $200 for the bulge. But it would still be $30 of paint and the time and effort. I did my handle and they came out amazing, but those are tiny compared to the bulge, and I am certainly not a pro painter.
    Has anyone done this yet?

I haven't seen any posts of anyone painting the bulge like this, but that doesn't mean it's not been done. As your truck is MGM (popular color) you might be able to find one in a scrap yard.
