I know the hood scoops on the Tundra are not functional.

Is there any post that describes how to make them functional?
    1. If they are made functional, what is the increased functionality and benefits?

    2. What is the downside? I am thinking that increased water (rain) or contaminates could get into the engine compartment.
To answer my own question, one benefit might be increased cooling by removing hot air from the engine compartment. But if a Tundra doesn’t have cooling issues, then “increased cooling” isn’t a reason to do it.

Maybe I should leave it just the way it is.

Toyota engineer Mike Sweer said the reason they are not functional is to keep the engine at a specified operating temperature. They felt if they allowed more air in it would change the parameters and didn’t want that. I would leave it.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
For a functional scoop check out the Amerihood or RK Sport ram air hoods.
You’ll need to have an open to CAI, like a S&B or K&N to get the ‘functional benefit’.

Both hoods also have vents to allow for heat escape

Damn, that is one fine machine. Do you want to trade it for a 2020 Tundra. LOL
I had 68 z-28 Small block silver with black stripes, Muncie rock crusher, 12 bolt posi back in the 70’s and I can’t tell you how much I miss that car.

Nice! I almost purchased a 1969 400 small block Camaro. Beautiful. Speaking of hoods, I do like my 2020 Tundra Hood. But the Corvette C3 L-88 hood is my all time favorite

With an open intake you can definitely hear it. As well as a little more 'pedal feel' power, especially on cold mornings

My 78 trans am with a shaker hood. It is open on the back to pull air into the carburetor.

The shaker hood scoop was pretty efficient, but the forward mounted dual scoop inlets on the Firebird Formula and '71 & '72 GTO were extremely efficient.
