How can I get rid of the advertising on the radio display?

I bought this 2021 Tundra used and the display has a local attorney advertising on the radio display.

 

I didn't think custom images were possible on the 2021's.
Maybe I am thinking about the 2021 JBL Systems.

 

I’ve never once seen any kind of advertising on my headunit.

 

Broadcast radio, or full time? All the channels, or just one? If the local guy sponsors the radio program, his info may come up during breaks, but I wouldn’t expect it across the board.

 

Didn’t think you could change the images on the newer trucks. Very interesting.

Here are the images. It only shows up on certain FM stations and its a rolling message.

 

He’s a paid sponsor for those stations.

 

Hard for me to believe that only one sponsor would show up on my display and not anyone else. I have several friends with tundras and no advertising shows up on theirs.

Does that same ad play on any station or just 100.7. Like others have said its the RDS service that station is pumping out. Ever wonder how you get Song title and artist on some over the air radio stations?

WTF difference does the ad make? When I drive, I listen to the radio and view the road. Simply wouldn't even matter if there wasn't a screen in the first place. I dnk, maybe it's only me who views the road and the mirrors. So glad I don't let tech run my life and put me in a box.

If you are so anti-tech then maybe understand that having someone’s ads pre-loaded to your truck could be concerning to some. I for one envisioned some dickhead ambulance chaser picture coming up as the load screen. I’d be concerned too. Now that we know it was the radio it is all good.

 

Not that it is any of your business but I do not like the man and I want him off my display.

 

As others have stated it is fed from the radio signal. I don’t think anything can be done other than changing the station. One of the stations I listen too has a similar message for the local Acura dealer.

 

Change the radio station?

 

Looks like your radio is satellite ready. Go Sirius and forget about broadcast. As long as he’s paying the advertising fees, you’re going to have to deal with his ads on the local channels.

So “free” broadcast radio with ads, or paid satellite with none. No free lunch - either way you give something up. Just matters what’s important to you.

 

Pay a higher advertising fee than the lawyer and have your own message on screen. Done.

Or if you prefer a built in app like Sirius but don't want to pay $79.99/mo. (hyperbole), call them up and ask how you can get it for $60/year (not hyperbole).

I don't listen to the radio very often, but when I do, it's either Spotify or Sirius.

I don't have my stock HU so can't look into this myself, but if you disable HD radio does that kill the metadata tags that would pull that info? Dig into the radio tuner settings and there might be something to shut it down, but you'll lose the song info as well, I'd assume anyway.
