How do I black out my TRD Exhaust tips?

    Hey Everybody!

    So I recently completed blacking out/removing all the chrome from my truck except for my TRD chrome exhaust tips. Im having trouble imagining hoe to do this. Id like to still see the stamped TRD logo if possible.

    Will powder coating work? What about raptor liner?
    Has anybody ceramic coated their exhaust tips? Plastidip?

    Any tips or suggestions?

    All input is appreciated.

    U could just paint it with high heat ceramic spray paint. Wont cost much, just dont half ass the prep and it’ll last

    Scuff it up real nice. U want it a uniform dull appearance so the paint has something to bind to. 400-600 grit should be okay since ur tips probably dont have any imperfections. Ive used high heat spray paint from rustoleom, VHT, and duplicolor. Rustoleom was decent, vht was good, but my favorite was duplicolor. Had a nice finish, didnt really test the durability but it didnt chip during installation when it hit against other metal parts.

    I did plastidip on the tips and they came out really good. They clean up well, and can be touched up easily if needed. Going on 4 months now and still look like they did on day 1.

    If money ain’t a problem then buy. But having a family I went to the painting them. I didn’t use plastic dip. But yes. Prep prep prep. Use CHT primer from autozone and then VHT black. Also I removed my tail pipes. I didn’t want to spray my truck lol.. a lil more work to be more careful.

    I used high heat black spray paint on my Magnaflow exhaust tip. Worked great and looks awesome. Have to see how long it will last. :thumbsup:

    I went to the dealer. They had one in stock. $65. I painted a chrome one, did all the prep but I wasn't confident in the durability. Not to mention I suck at spraying, so there were some drips I couldn't stand

    No, it didn't. I added a TRD logo that I painted red to match my truck.
    Mine has the Magnaflow embossed logo, which you can still see. I actually bought a TRD logo, painted it red, and mounted to the exhaust tip:

    You can see that some of the black has already started to fade. I'll just periodically touch it up. Unless someone knows of a good paint to use, be prepared for it to fade.
