I just picked up a yeti 65 and want to keep in back seat area of my crewcab and I was wondering how do other people secure their coolers. I am thinking of bungee cording to metal on back seat brackets or something like that. I don't want to screw into metal or anything permanent.

I’d start with a solid base first. I put a block on the floor so that my cooler or other gear will sit flat. If you have that I doubt it will move.

Ya, that foot well does pose a problem. I should make something that will make that area flat. Good idea.

I would do something like @helidave did but instead of the back support on the seats extend it to the floor so that it's more stable...something like this.

I put mine in the bed of the truck right behind the tailgate. Tiedown strap around the back of it from each corner, then the tailgate keeps it snug up against the tiedown. But it is underneath the bed cover.

I wheel with a 65 in the back seat area. There's a super simple, inexpensive way to keep it VERY secure. I use 2 velcro straps on the cooler and about 4-5' of Vectran line. Vectran can be found online or at West Marine. I use a modified figure 8 (it's got one extra twist) knot through the seat bracket, through the velcro loop and back to a trucker's hitch. Total cost is about $5-10 and takes 5 min. You can go to the trouble of building a platform if ya want (I'm a furniture builder so piece of cake) but what's securing the platform and is it really necessary? No, it's not.Cooler attach.jpg Seat tie down for cooler.jpg
Don't use the cheap carabiner pictured. Sorry bout the messy truck, hasn't been cleaned up from the weekend yet.

I agree with the bed of the truck and tied there if you are worried about the sun and do not have a lid on the bed wrap a tarp over it preferably the reflective type.

I think if I needed to put a cooler in the back seat I would center it in the middle of the back seat and use a ratchet strap secured to the “child” hooks for the outer seats.

I just removed the back seat. Lots of room now. I set my cooler on a nonslip pad, works great

Wow, a lot of responses. Thanks guys. I was thinking to build a platform with a tie down that can loop thru the 65's tie down slot. I don't usually have anyone in back seat and I would leave the 40 seat from 60/40 down anyway. I have a tonneau cover so I could leave it in the back too but why not have it in the truck with me. At, least for now. I have some plywood around somewhere. I will have to take pics when I finish. Hopefully, I get this right.

Big cooler in the bed. Small cooler in the truck. No securing necessary and no building furniture to put a giant cooler on.
