Someone near me is giving away a nice 1st gen Tacoma bed. How do these match up to the tundra short bed?

The Tacoma bed is much smaller. Much, much smaller. Width alone will be significantly different. Tacomas still seem to be limited to that 55” width restriction based on 3 wide across a shipping vessel for Japanese built trucks. I’ve got a 2022 as a rental and I can reach the passenger door from the drivers seat without really leaning over.

Edit: the 55” is probably off, but they kept the width skinny to accommodate overseas shipping for a long time. The beds are likely almost a foot narrower than a 1gt Tundy.

I mean, there's no reason you can't turn it into a bed trailer, potentially.

Would love a 1GT or Tacoma bed trailer with a Cap and rack on it. Tool box on the tongue.

A member here is giving away his nice step side bed because he can't find a buyer. It looks to be in great shape too.

That would make for a really tiny trailer. Bet caps are hard to find for those. Loved my 98 Chevy stepside though.

I won't buy a taco since I can't fit a 4'x 8' sheet between the wheel well arches. It's got to lay flat in the bed like the tundra.

Best part of the 1st Gen tundra DC bed is the depth. Way better than a Tacoma imo
