How long do OEM shocks last? Specifically the yellow/blue shocks that come on the TRD off-road

I’m asking because I’m pretty darn amazed at how this truck rides with these yellow/blue original shocks at over 270k miles. There’s no way these shocks has ever been replaced considering how they look and by looking at the service history. The only time I hear something is when I go over extremely rough terrain , where it’ll at most chirp. Anything that makes the suspension really flex, I’ll hear a slight chirp noise and it’s not that typical squeaky squeak noise either. There is no noise over small or large bumps. Speed bumps=yes, off road terrain that has dips=yes

I know at some point, I need to do a suspension overhaul. Replace the shocks, coil springs, control arms, and some of the steering components. I’m sure most of you have upgraded shocks, probably the more superior Bilstein shocks.

My shocks did the same chirp that you are describing. I pulled them off at 143K and was pretty shocked that my ride actually got a little harsher, at low speeds, with the shocks that I chose. When the Blue and Yellow offroad shocks wear out they seem to give a softer ride on the street which is both good and bad in certain situations. I started doing some light offroading with the Blue and Yellows and off any drops/ quick dips I would blow straight through the shock and bounce off the bump stop which drove me to new suspension. The upgraded Bilsteins will likely stiffen up any low-speed driving that you do but at about 45-50mph and above they should smooth back out and you won't notice a harsh ride.

OEM Bilstein or Hitachi shocks "generally" last about 60k before they start to lose their ability to compress and rebound properly.

Well, I must say that the ones on my truck are way overdue. They haven’t leaked as far as I seen and ride quality is ok except for when I’m driving on certain parts of the highway.
