I know there are probably some out there that missed the fuel pump recall or ignored it, or your specific year wasn't included yet, so I'm curious at what mileage did you actually have a problem that was caused by this recall?

I did look and didn't see other threads asking this.. so I am just curious.

I wonder if we should also add to the details:
    flex or not?
    what gas you use?
    what size tank?

Only looking for replies where your fuel pump actually failed because of the recall issues.

Recalls are not done from the manufacturer. They are issued by NHTSA and do not end or expire. Service bulletins and the like can be recommended by NHTSA or the manufacturer but are generally "keep the customer happy items". You will constantly here someone bitching about things like chevy's window regulators CONSTANTLY failing on every model for 30 years and they should be recalled but NHTSA has no authority over that. Recalls are safety only. The Toyota Fuel Pump recall or SAFETY RECALL 20TA02 - NHTSA Recall No. 20V-012 & 20V-682 will never expire. There is a point where Toyota has proven they contacted every vehicle's owner several times and were ignored thus the recall being called COMPLETED but even then they will still be required to keep the new part available for a very long time. The ongoing recall includes many Toyota & Lexus vehicles therefore negating any relation to a flex fuel issue or gas tank size. It has also been shown that there is no age time for the failure as it was happening to new vehicles along with many years old ones. I got mine done at 20,000 miles on a 2019 but never had any issue whatsoever with the fuel pump.

Going in for the fuel pump recall next week, my truck has 23,000 miles. In the last 10,000 miles when my truck is on any incline at slow speeds my truck stutters and feels like the transmission is acting weird or maybe the fuel pump isn't performing correctly. Has anyone else had this experience?

I’ll update everyone after the recall is complete.

Is this just on the recent year models?

Mine's an '08 with 193k on the clock. Just changed the fuel pump because the screen was clogged. The pump still worked just fine, but since I already had the tank out I figured I might as well take care of it rather than taking a chance on having to do all that work again later.

Nor was my 2018 ... at least as of yet. Still hasn't shown up on Toyota's web portal as a recall and even had the dealer check it by VIN but nothing.

I’m at 155k on the original fuel pump. I might change it soon to get a finger workout.

I just did recall on the fuel pump at 86000 miles on 2019 tundra. Truck was running fine earlier also no issue with fuel pump, dropped at the dealer early morning was done by evening.

    86k on a 19? Holy cow!

I had the recall done on my 19 GS350 and my 19 Highlander Hybrid. I hope my 2020 GS350 and 2021 Tundra won’t need it.

Bring your truck in with almost no gas. They probably told you 1/4 tank or less but do your mechanic a favor and go less. Nothing better then a grateful mechanic. I also took my truck to a self spray car wash a couple days before and gave that area inside and above the drivers side rear wheel well a quick cleaning. They will be pulling I believe three separate lines to the tank and leaving them hang there. Nice to get rid of some of the old stuck on dirt/mud in the area. Took about 2.5 hours.

I'm at 320k. Still on the original pump. And my cams aren't leaking either.

Are the flex fuel Tundras part of the recall, or is it only for non-FFV?

    Recalls have expiration dates.

Your post reads like the expiration date has passed on this recall.

Recall for my fuel pump is now complete. I drove 20 miles and some of this was at an incline. So far the stutter I’ve been experiencing has gone away which is a good sign. Will keep all updated.

The work took the dealer 5 hours and I got under the truck to inspect the tank, tank straps and they did a nice job. Crossing my fingers my truck gives me a flawless 500,000 miles!

I have a 2019 Tundra with 73k miles, and it does not qualify for the recall. But is having the same issues as the other ones recalled. My VIN does not qualify. I don't know what to do.
