How often do we get infotainment software updates?

First time coming to Toyota for my truck. Does anyone know how often we get infotainment software updates? I can't find documentation that says 1/year, 2/year etc?

Do you guys know for how many years they will support an update? Does TM document that somewhere?

I never signed up for connected services so I wasn't aware it was a requirement to download the sw updates.

 

I see someone posted the last update was April. Has anyone gotten an update in this month or last? What version?

 

Yeah, I guess i'm not sure on that so maybe it works even if you don't have connected services for over the air updates. I wish they would show you the available versions on their firmware page without you first having to put a thumbdrive in your truck and upload whatever it downloads to their page.

 

Checking back if anyone has received an update in the last month or so?

Also, do you guys know if the engine has to be running when connected to WiFi? Or can it just be in ACC mode? Its lame that there is no "update" button to show if its even in the process of checking. I saw some videos on YT showing how the update just pops up after waiting a while. But I haven't seen anything yet on my end.

 

Based on previous updates, any idea what to expect with this one? Do they change look and feel of the UI or just bug fixes?

 

I also wonder if those updates apply digital cluster changes or improvements. Not saying I have any issues with my digital cluster.

 

I canceled connected services. When I open my Toyota app and go to Vehicle Software it says "Up to date". Do I need to do anything else, or will the updates push themselves through my phone?

 

There are 7 different software packages listed in my system. All with different version numbers.

 

Has anyone checked or received an infotainment update? I go into settings and software update, wait a few minutes and nothing pops up. I have an August build and I figured 2 times / year they would send out an update. I guess I was wrong.

Also my wifi is always in the off position if I previously connected to AA. I dont see why it can't say on.

 

Well darn....Same thing I have in my Ford Transit. Was yearly now its nothing. Its a 2019 but as with everything software related there is an EOS (End of Support).

 

Any insight on what will be added / changed?

Wouldn’t that be nice. I see on the Toyo site only 2 cars in MY24 have digital key access in S.S. 3.0

 

I came from a Tesla, at least once a week I have to walk back into the house and grab my fob, so annoying.

 

I wish there was a website to submit feature requests. My '13 F-150 that I traded in on the '24 Tundra (as well as my parents Mercedes) had a delay on the backup camera. When you shifted into drive it stayed on for 5-10 seconds or 5 MPH. Made centering up in a parking spot or connecting a trailer a lot easier.

 

Turn on the Auto setting in the bottom view menus. Cameras turn on/off at 7mph. Perfect for parking alignment.

 

Thank you!! Is that when the camera display is on the 14" screen? I've changed the alignment grid but haven't done any button pushing otherwise on that screen.

Interesting. I only have options to change the alignment grid and the zoom of the camera angle. Nothing else. Maybe it's a Limited model limitation?

 

Do you have the PVM option? (Panoramic View Monitor)(360° view around the truck?) Maybe that speed controlled view is only on trucks with PVM. (All TRD OR trucks have it)
