So of course the dealership screwed up my last oil change and somehow logged the maintenance incorrectly. Therefore my maintenance light never came on when it should have.

How do I log a new oil change so that in 5,000 miles my maintenance light comes on?

All Toyota’s. Make sure you are in trip a. Truck is off press and hold odometer reset button. Key on engine off (accessory mode) keep holding reset trip button and you’ll see dashes or a “loading” bar. Once done dashes blink off or loading bar full and done.

That is the display you use to watch while holding the pro/trip button on the gauges.

Make sure trip a. Key off. Hold trip button (where hand is). Turn key on to accessories (key on engine off or KEOE) and keep holding until the bar is full. That’s all Toyota’s. Sometimes it’s dashes. Sometimes it’s a bar
