Hello all. FNG here. I'm new to toyota. I'm looking at getting a 2021sr5 tundra. I'm needing help with identifying whether or not it's a trail edition. It has the coolers on bed. On one part of website it said 38 gallon tank and another part it said 26.4. What other tell-tale signs can I pick out that give me a solid yes or no. I don't think salesman at dealership knows

The seats will have unique stitching (like yellowish threads instead of regular color) and I believe the trail edition came in white, black, and army green. Also the wheels are the same style as the TRD Pro (before they came with BBS wheels) but they are gunmetal gray instead of black and the grill was a 1794 edition chrome grill
    Here was my trail edition

Thank you. The truck I'm looking at looks to have the 1794 grill. It also has all badges blacked out and has 4x4

Hmmm. Looks like a trail edition with a grill swap?

No. That is the correct grille for a Trail.

It also has what appears to be white stitching on seats. One thing that makes me a tad suspicious is the low mileage and asking price. Mileage is 13,404 and asking price dropped 1k to $41,997+TTL. According to the available carfax it was originally a lease vehicle for almost 6,000miles. Second owner drove it to current mileage. My question on that is why would someone get rid of a truck that soon and then it sits on a lot for some time? Are these vehicles in the category of "you either love em or hate em"? Or are there some gremlins in that truck that made it undesirable?

Nice find, but black shows every single scratch so think carefully.

In era when trucks are cars, real trucks are undesirable.

Also depending on where OP is at, gas price might play a major factor of keeping/rid of the said vehicle due to climbing gas price or other factors.

OK guys: full disclosure. I currently drive a Ford F150. Average tank fill is between $65.00-$78.00. I don't think it'll be that much different with a tundra? Unless it has a 38 gal. tank. @iantung forgive me, but what is OP?

OP = Original Poster, or something in that variation.
Tundra may/may not give you better MPG, I avg 15 MPG with mixed city/highway usage.
Interesting fact, I had a rental this past weekend, 2020 March build F150 Lariat 2WD, full tank onboard computer says about 680 miles to empty, and since I was traveling from Albuquerque to Houston, I filled up twice in between, due to this is not my car and I don't know it well and I am on the road with family so I don't want to be stranded without gas not knowing the pattern.
Tundra will likely give you trouble-free years and enjoyment, but I am not saying the F150 you have now will not.
You will have a reason to switch, which at this point we do not know yet.
I got a Tundra, not because of the MPG, but purely to drive it and not worry too much it breaking down on me. YMMV (Your mileage may vary)

Also, I am on 38G tank, so empty fill up around 30 gallons would be $80, give and take, but this is Houston.

That price is amazing! That is close to what 2 wheel drive versions are getting.

Don't think about it. Just get it!

The F150 I currently have is a 2014. 5.0 coyote/6r80 powertrain. It's getting up there in miles 153K and some change. It's been a good truck. I've done my best to keep up with maintenance. Recently replaced brake fluid, rotors/pads and front calipers, transmission fluid/filter, eng oil filter, both blend doors, rear diff fluid. All the things I've read and heard about tundra seem to all be good and a lot better than some. So a new look and longevity is what I'm looking for.

So many people are *shocked Pikachu face* when an old V8 platform isn't netting then 20+ MPG or when a half ton doesn't have 3500 lbs of payload for their 5th wheel. Lots of Tundras traded for nothing more than people having foolish expectations and doing no research.

If you're after longevity, there is no better half ton. Be aware of the payload limits so you aren't disappointed, but beyond that it's solid.

Also, that Tundra will have the 38 gallon tank.

@GODZILLA if...IF I do any Towing/hauling it'll be light to medium loads. Definitely nothing that will compromise vehicle's structural integrity. Thank you all. Now I begin my 2 hour drive to go get a glimpse

If you are going to tow, watch the temp and maybe consider trans cooler which Toyota took out for 20/21 MY.

Well folks. The truck was definitely beautiful. I want to thank you all for your insight. It's at Brownsville Toyota in Texas if anybody is interested. I couldn't go through with what they wanted. I had pre-approval for 15,000 over asking price yet they wanted me to go through their financial services instead of my bank. My offer was 0 down plus my truck.

    I wondered about that.

You could have used their services and just paid off their financial department with funds from your bank. Just need to make sure no penalty for early pay off.

Buying cars is strange these days, that's for sure.

Hello again. Any ideas on what modifications could be? This is the same truck. It's now entering my subconscious.

Anything added to the truck that is not part of the basic build. Could be step rails or a bed cover ...
