The past two days we've had some heavy rain in California. After a rain break in the afternoon, instead of checking for leaks inside the house, I decided to check for leaks inside my truck. LOL

Well, just my luck because the interior carpet lining on the rear left floor was wet. But I can't seem to trace where the leak is coming from. None of the interior door panels are wet or have signs of water leak stains. Windows were closed. Truck have not been driven in a month. I could only think of two possible things but I'm not all that confident they're the culprits. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Leak: carpet - 1-inch soaked and only in this area

    Possible cause(s):
    1)Window seal?
    2)Roof Molding?

The easiest way to track it down is with the trusty garden hose. Get inside and have someone blast all the areas that you posted that look questionable. Good luck.

True but those two possible areas I mentioned makes no sense why water would travel to that particular only and nowhere else if in fact one of them was the cause. Either way, I'll have to tear it down and see where the leak is coming from. This is why I refused to take over friend's plumbing business. No matter how much money it generates: hate dealing with water whether directly or indirectly.

I get your points and they're all valid, but its the only way to truly track down a water leak. That's how we did it at the dealership I worked at, and pretty sure how they still do it there today. :notsure:

Do you have a moonroof/sunroof?? I'd check for their drain tube that I believe leads towards the rear of the cab

    No, I don't.

It's raining right now and I sat in the rear for a good 30 minutes, with the channel panel off and I didn't see any water leaks or rather pudding forming. I'm really leaning toward the cause being the roof molding. But I'll have to test it when it's not raining. LOL

I vote; window seal leak and clogged/restricted drain at the bottom of the door.

Is there a drain plug at the bottom of the door?

Not a plug, but usually hole(s) that allow water that enters through the exterior glass seals to exit the door cavity before it enters the cabin space. No idea where these are located on the Tundra, other than the bottom of the door.

Based on the fact that it's set for a month, I'd have to say this isn't it but I'll throw it out there. When the AC evap drain plugs up, the system can overflow into the cab.

On the Lexus IS350 forum I'm on, it manages to flood the back seat through the HVAC vent to the rear passenger area. I wonder if the Tundra is capable of that too?

That's said, I'd be looking at the back window!

Usually 3 to 4 of them, open the door and look up. Sometimes they have a flapper in them that can get debris in it and plug it up.... The intent being high water on the outside doesn't rush in.

Is it even remotely possible that no matter how sure you are the rear door was closed fully, that in fact it wasn't?

Just a thought, If you can't reproduce the leak with a garden hose.

cargo light/brake light on back of cab leaking? Where truck was parked, did it have a slight lean to the left and perhaps water came from the back of cab light fixture and found its way to left side, rear floor area?

It makes sense that it would be the exterior glass seal but the drain holes exit below and before the cabin. So, I'm not convinced it's the gap in the window seals. But then again, it does make sense since that's the only area that's wet. We'll see when I eventually test it with the garden hose. Eventually! LOL

Yeah, I'm not buying that. LOL

100% positive. Checked both nights right before it started pouring.

No sight lean whatsoever. It was parked in my front driveway-pretty much flat. No leak behind cargo light/brake light.

Still haven't had the chance to work on the Tundra. Busy fixing Honda Accord and remodeling house. Sheesh!
