Does anyone know the HP and Torque rating on the 5.7L and the transmission in Tundras? I have a Magnuson Magnum TVS2650 S/C on my block, pushes 5-7psi of boost. The previous owners installed it. I don't know how to prove my word but I have been nothing but easy on the pickup. I treat it as it is the Holy Grail. It takes me like a mile to get up to 70mph on highway because I baby it! Since I have had the pickup since December of 2023, I had to get a transmission and engine swap. The transmission burnt up and the engine had a catastrophic failure. Not sure what happened to the engine. A rod knock started one day out of the blue. Anyways, was just wondering if someone knew the ratings of the engine and transmission. I am not wanting to be hard on it but I would like to know if I am safe for towing or if the engine and transmission can just handle it. I am sitting at, what I presume, 550hp and 550lb feet of torque. Don't quote me on that, that is just what I know off my research.

Get it properly tuned. Head over to the General Supercharger thread and those guys can point you in the right direction

How many miles on the truck, and how many of it was supercharged? The stock 381hp is enough to destroy things if the previous owner treated it badly enough in both use and maintenance. Maybe you bought somebody else’s headache? Like M3 stated though proper tuning is crucial, and the canned Magnuson provided tune is often not very good in the knock department. I tow a 7500lb Travel trailer regularly and I’m running higher boost than the SC kit comes with and have had no issues so far, likely in the 550whp (600+ crank hp) range. Best guess by most is the reliable HP limit on a stock engine and trans is about 600Whp, but if driven hard and put away wet who’s to say it will hold up to that for long especially with poor tuning. It’s all how you drive and maintain it, and there are mods you can do to improve longevity for both.

175,000ish miles (+,- 1,000 miles) and from what I have seen, I couldn't tell you how long it has been supercharged. A good 60,000-80,000 miles is a good guess. It has only had two previous owners prior to me. I have seen the Carfax report and the oil has been changed every 5,000-6,000 miles of its entire life. I don't think it was someone else's headache. I just think the previous owner stressed the hell out of the engine and tranny. I would like to get a proper tune done to the truck to help with this issue. If you are doing that load on it regularly, then why am I having this problem when I hardly haul something? Thank you for the insight!

I’d say 175k miles isn’t nothing for sure. The 2650 magnuson has only been available since the summer or 2023 also, if that is any indicator of miles. I am under no illusion that I’ll get 400k+ miles out my supercharged engine or transmission like is possible with an NA 5.7, that said I’ll probably get 200k. At my current mileage rate even that won’t happen for another 16 years so I’m not particularly worried. 5k oil changes with 5w30 and ATF changes every 30k should help, which is what I’d recommend for you going forward also. A performance valve body for the trans is also a worthwhile addition.

Fuel delete mod Cup holder upgrade
As the other brothers in boost have mentioned the tune is critical as is maintenance.

No hard number on when the engines go boom but that sounds around right if you are talking WHP numbers, you can push higher on E85 but I've not seen many builds run it.
Shit tune can grenade your engine at a lower HP # as can Improper supporting mods. Improper fueling can send you to grenade town if you run lean at the wrong time. A recent post referencing another forum discussion hypothesizes the possibility of the stock exhaust and headers being too restrictive.

Stock transmission has been shown to hold at higher numbers but with a valvebody kit. One of the boosted Tundra pioneers used to drag race his truck one a stock transmission and he was pushing north of 700 if I recall.
