I’m looking to change from my stock 20” wheels and tires (275 55/20) to an aftermarket 18” x 9” wheel with a 285 65/18. I was told by the tire shop I deal with, to get a HUB CENTRIC wheel and stay as close to stock offset as possible. This is to keep wheel shake away.

Anybody have experience with this? Which wheels are Hub Centric and what offset would I be looking for that are Hub Centric and close to stock?

This is a 2021 Platinum Tundra. The stock wheels are 7 or 8( I’m not positive, seems like I heard they are a 7” stock wheel on a 2021 tundra) wheels and I believe they are +44 offset and I’ll be going to a 18x9” wheel with 285 65/18….

Help me solve this problem as I don’t want any wheel shake..

    Alot of them
There are plenty of wheels that will fit. To start with, most of the stock wheels are a 60 offset which has the tires tucked into the wheel well. Where do you want the outer edges of your tires to sit?

Stock wheels are 18" or 20" diameter x 8" width. +60mm offset. TRD forged Rock Warrior wheels (from the 2nd Gens) are 17" x 8.5" with a +50mm Offset.
They will all accommodate a 295 or 11.5" wide tire (to stay with in specifications) but many run up to a 315 or 12.5" wide tire (out of spec, but with no issues).

2nd & 2.5 Gens require a 5x150mm pattern wheel. Icon, SCS are some common wheels that will be great on your truck. +25mm seems to be the sweet spot for offset that gives a more aggressive stance than stock, but requires the least amount of saw work. You can shim out a bumper, remove or heat the plastic liners. Body mount chop, all kinds of things to make tires fit. 1.5"-3.5" of lift is also the magic spot here too

I would like my tire to be even with the body of the truck. So going from a stock 20x 8” wheel and 275 55/20 tire to a 18x9” wheel with a 285 65/18 tire. What offset would get me there taking into account a wider tire and wheel?

Also Hub Centric 18” wheel. When looking at aftermarket 18x9” wheels, will it also indicate if they are HUB CENTRIC wheels?

looking at aftermarket wheels they generally don't tell you if they are hub centric or not, you can buy hub centering rings aftermarket as well, depends on where you get wheels from, but most places will know if you need them or not.
tire rack for example will include hub centering rings if the wheels that you purchase require them

+25 isn't the "sweetspot"... it's just common. 35-40mm is plenty for the widest tires you 'd want to run... but good luck finding that offset  3.5" is way overboard for lift, as you can fit 37s just fine with 2"... and any more than that requires UCAs, a rear lift, and wears out front end components at a faster rate. The things you have to do to make clearance you'll have to do regardless of the lift... if you don't want it to rub when you turn and hit bumps at the same time.

Do you want your tires even with the body or do you want stock offset? Your tires will stick out ~5mm farther plus ~5mm for the wider rim. Any more will have to come from offset being "not stock". Look at your tires and tell us how much you want them out vs current.

I think it would be hard to find a wheel that isn't hub centric. Maybe some POS from a Chinese company, but the Tundra wheels I've seen fit directly on the hub ring.

Also tell us exactly what you are trying to achieve with new wheels and tires; I don't get the feeling you've really sorted that out yet.

I was just providing him ranges of what people do on this forum, mostly without issue. Not giving him the specs of your truck.

I’m trying to achieve a better look then stock. I DON’T WANT WHEEL SHAKE. (Who has experienced wheel shake from a wider stance and lifted or even leveled, example +18 offset?)and I have a brand new set of BF Goodrich 18” 285 65/18 tires so thats why I want to purchase a set of 18” wheels. I AM NOT lifting or even leveling the truck at this point. Maybe after these BF Goodrich tires wear out, I’ll put taller tires on and level it.

so the tire shop told me to find a Hub Centic wheel instead of using the hub ring if possible as they have experienced a lot of issues with non Hub Centric wheels and also getting too far away from a stock offset wheel, as it causes wheel shake. Hopefully that’s clear enough… thank you guys in advance

    This is totally subjective.
Find some take off TRD OR (machined or P-coated) wheels or TRD Pro wheels. That's 18x8, 60mm offset, OEM (no wheel shake). Your 285 65 r18 BFGs will look better than stock on those wheels because they have a wider tread width and more aggressive sidewall.

Your Tundra has a 110 or 110.5mm hub bore. Look for that when shopping wheels... and of course 5x150 bolt spacing.

You'll be able to fit those tires on stock rims with no issues... but you probably know that. Can also use wheel spacers to move them out a bit.

If wheel shake was a big problem I think a lot more of us would have it. I can't recall anyone complaining or contributing this to offset. It's hard to find aftermarket rims with more than +25mm offset which is 35mm or 1.38" more than stock. Stick with at least +25 if you get aftermarket wheels.

Anybody know the offset of these? I searched it on this Toyota site and can’t find it.

Toyota TRD Forged Aluminum, Matte Black 18”(pt960-34200-02)

Found these on a Toyota parts website

rruff… +60 offset and how wide? 8 or 9” wide wheel?

mid I get those TRD that are +60 offset and put a BFG 285 65/18 tire on them. How much more wide will that setup be?

If these are stupid questions, I apologize…

They are all 8". You'll gain ~5mm or 0.2"... basically nothing.

www.stealthcustomseries.com. Greatest Toyota wheel made. Few choices and not in stock very often but incredible quality. And yes, hub centric for Toyota.

I’m never a fan of spacers. They weaken the strength of the hub set up.

I currently have OE 18x9 wheels with stock tires WITH 1.25 spacers. The treat of the tires just barely pokes out of the fender. The +25 methods stuck out further
