New to the forum, so go easy on me :)

I've had my 2023 Tundra for 3 months and since day 1 I've had a high pitched whistling that comes from the air vents while the blower fan is on. The loudness fluctuates with blower speed and also vehicle speed. When the blower is off there is no whistling at all. I've gone around and adjusted all of the vents to see if that would help thinking there was maybe a partial blockage but that didn't help. The whistling is most pronounced coming through the vents that are at the back of the center console pointing on the back seat. There is also some whistling coming from somewhere in the dash.

When I go to the dealer for the 5K service I'll bring this up, just curious if anyone else is experiencing this annoyance?

    Thanks!

Yes! Just picked up my platinum two days ago and am experiencing this exact same thing. Let us know what you find out!

Do you only notice it when it's routed to floor or "no mode" is selected? That's the only time i hear it. If I'm running the defrost or upper vents with the floor, no whistle, but I was guessing it's a damper behind the dash when routing to floor or no mode only. Clarification - no mode is what I'm calling the setting when you've switched from "auto" to a specific fan/temp setting but haven't selected a specific vent mode.

Most if not all of my use so far has been defrost+foot heat(winter in Vermont). I will say that when I'm using defrost only(no foot) the whistle is quieter than when it's running through the foot vents. I'll do some more exploration including the "no mode" and share what I find. thanks!

The whistling happens when the mode is either defrost, defrost+foot, dashboard only, or Auto. There is no whistling when the mode is Auto or foot+dashbord. I think this supports the idea that the damper which switches between the dashboard and foot must not be sealing completely, therefore letting through enough air to whistle when one or the other but not both are selected.

FWIW my may2022 build has been whistling since new, I am always on defrost/foot mode, but it has gotten steadily better since I got the truck, now its hard to hear even though i'm listening for it and most times i can't hear it. Was pretty obvious the first 5000KM or so. truck has around 12xxx KM on it now

Mine whistles. It's annoying but the only issues I've had so far. Good luck!

I'd agree with this on mine too. It's gotten quieter over time...hitting 10k miles this week.

From what I've found, it seems to come from the bottom of the passenger side footwell, there is a vent/intake at the passenger foot to the left, if you cover it a bit, it goes away. I'll also try to see if there's still a whistle with the cabin filter removed.

It's also driving me nuts, but something I can live with for now!

Mine does but only when on auto mode or when I manually select the defrost/windshield vent mode. I am waiting for nicer weather before I take it in so I can ride my motorcycle while it gets fixed. Mine is dependent on fan speed.

Did anyone determine a solution? Mine has a whistle when directed only at feet at low fan speed. It doesn't do it when directed to come from the dash or any other setting

I have the same issue and I had a tech from the dealership sitting on the backseat listening to it. He diagnosed the whistling sound was caused by the fins on the rear vents. If you shut off the fins, the sound will go away. If the air flow is not strong enough, it does not make the noise. As for my truck, if I keep blow hot air for 20-30mins and the plastic expands to a certain degree, the sound goes away. I will be replacing the fins to see if it fixes the issue.

Yes I noted it goes away when the vents are shut. Will be mentioning this on my next visit. Keep us updated if replacing the vents helps.

Anyone ever notice their active noise cancellation (white noise generator) creating abnormal static when the fan is on low?

I’ve put a small towel in one side of the vent to stop the whistling. There’s somewhat of a divider that holds the towel but doesn’t completely block the airflow.

Sometimes all this and the ticking noise in the headliner that starts at 50F and below makes me feel a little crazy.

I’ve got a drivers side a/c vent whistle and no combination of a/c controls or vent positioning does anything, only hear it above 55-60, gets louder with speed….

My rear vent whistles when the temp is set between 73-78 and the speed is at 3-4. It’s extremely annoying and I brought it in only for them to tell me that it’s “normal” since they tested out another capstone.

Never have I ever been in a vehicle where it was “normal” for the vent to whistle because of a misalignment from production. I’m sure there’s a gap or misaligned duct that’s causing this.

For real. It’s really my only gripe so I should probably be thankful. Very annoying with no radio. Hopefully we will figure it out one day.

Mine whistle from passenger foot vent. I’ll see if there is anything in need of a trim and or smooth that could help out.
As per previous does whistle on foot/defrost, on foot alone, not on defrost alone.

FWIW.... My 2023 Platinum makes a pronounced whistle noise in the lower front dash area when set the face vents only....Thought it was odd....Found out my kid shut the rear vents off, so blocking the air flow....So I'm guessing this is normal?

I’ve got the same issue with my ‘23. Just dropped the truck off tonight for its 5k service and asked them to investigate. If they resolve it, I’ll post what they did.
