(Hybrid thread) Check engine light after battery drain…

Was in truck and left ignition on. Didn’t think much of it because I’m used to “gearing” it in hybrid mode with no engine sounds.

Wasn’t until the truck lost power that I realized what had happened. I thought no big deal I’ll just wait a couple minutes and fire it up. Worst case scenario, I’ll have to jump it.
First couple attempts at restart didn’t work. But it fired up on third attempt.

But, I got a check engine and hybrid system error light. I disconnected the battery and it cleared the hybrid error but the check engine is still on and I can’t seem to clear it.

Curious if anyone has had this issue.

 

Not that exact issue, but was it supper hot in your area when this happened?

I had a weird experience today when my Hybrid would not engage the electric motor and made a clicking sounds. When driving in normal speeds it was okay but it has been HOT and I mean HOT 110+ degrees

 

No. I love in Colorado mountains. It was in 50s.

Just noticed that cruise control isn’t working and hybrid system doesn’t engine for some reason either.

 

What’s the code for the check engine light?

I think I managed to clear the code or it cleared it on its own?

Did the cruise control and hybrid system start working?

 

yes...not sure what had happened but it reset properly. Haven't had any problems isince.

 

I had the same issue
My battery was drained but it didn’t start as yours so we charged the battery instead of jump start
First there was 2 warnings with the engine light on: hybrid malfunction and electric control malfunction
Next day hybrid malfunction gone however hybrid still not working
After I see your comments I checked the cruise and it is not working
Today I disconnect the battery for 15 mins hoping to reset the engine light
Unfortunately nothing changed
Still engine light on
Hybrid not working
Cruise not working
Monday I will bring to servise (today I brought it to service and tell the story and they gave an appointment for Monday morning)
I hope they can fix it

Did you do any specific thing to reset or it happened by itself?

took it to autozone to use code reader. Cleared the code and it went away

Yeah happened to me when I got my windows tinted and they drained my battery.. took to dealership to clear the codes

Update:
I visited auto zone and advance auto parts to clear the code
Unfortunately both told that they don’t clear the codes
I had an appointment today with Toyota
I left the truck to the service and mentioned that the hybrid is not working and the cruise is not working and told them may be first just try to clear the code
However they said they can’t do that, they need to find the real problem first
They just called me and said that they just opened a case with tech/engineering
They said code gave them the problem is with the fluid pump inside the transmission and if this is the case they need to install a new transmission (not the pump)
They are waiting confirmation from tech/engineering
Again I asked them just to clear the code maybe it is an easy fix but they said no
And for the cruise they said there is nothing wrong with the cruise, it is because of the engine light
So we will wait for the tech/eng response
