Perhaps I'm crazy, but I was intrigued by the FB Marketplace ad for this 1st gen AC 2wd TRD and went to take a look. This is my 4th 4.7L powered truck (another 1st gen Tundra & two LX470s) so know they are durable, but the fact that this Tundra has made the equivalent of a round trip to the moon on its original drivetrain was just incredible. It runs and drives better than it has any right to. Stack of maintenance receipts, and the oil has been changed every five thousand miles since it was new. So I bought it! Excited to be its next caretaker.

So far, it's gotten an interior clean and a new tire. Seems like it needs a new drive belt and tensioner and probably front brake pads. And definitely a strong detail. Stay tuned for updates as I work through baselining it and adding some miles. 500k , here we come!

Crazy high reliability is what has brought me from Volvo world to Toyota trucks world. Had to rebuild both the engine and transmission in my 05 XC70 that had them failed at around 220k miles.

The interior looks good for that many miles. No doubt loads of highway driving, but that seat doesn't reflect it. Perhaps a small driver? Looking forward to the updates on this one:thumbsup:

Welcome. I can see you either need new shocks up front or worse, new LCAs from the sag in front that looked identical to mine. Check for tears in the rubber bushings.

It is indeed a Tennessee truck since new. Frame looks good. Overall, the truck is solid. A few dings and dents, but nothing hateful. CARFAX shows a minor accident early in its life. VIN stickers present on all of the panels.

Should be a fun project. I’ll keep you all posted!

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Congrats on the nice classic! I have a question though, what's the purpose of TRD Off Road package on a 2WD truck?

You need to post that over here. But just know, someone already has you beat, @Averyklinnnn has 680k+ or something crazy like that.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/highest-mileage-1st-gen-thread.11039/

We have at least 6 doz members with 300k+ miles, virtually all on the original drivetrain. Just a testament to how bulletproof the 1st gen Tundra was.

    Edit: Found the tracking spreadsheet.

Anyone who buy a 450k+ mile truck probably got a great buy and knows how to do all/most of his own mechanical work.

    Am I right?

I gave what I felt was a fair price for a truck that will likely be saleproof to the general public due to the miles. :)

Doh! That's a hell of a dodge answer, to a Toyota question.

People who wouldn't buy it with that kind of historical record are oblivious to what the drivetrain is capable of, and that's OK.

Well taken care of and maintenance done, there's no reason these engines can't last 500K+ without a major rebuild. I only have 217K on mine, and I expect to get many more miles out of it.

No leak, that area is dry as a bone. Must have been a shadow in the picture.

Ordered brake pads, a continental serpentine belt and a few odds and ends for it. eBay offered up the missing fuse box cover and one wheel center cap. Replaced a few light bulbs & the wiper blades. Cleaned the blower squirrel cage.

    Heck of a truck.
