I just did a 1"spacer lift - what about the panhard bar?

I just put a Westcott 1" rear spacer kit in and noticed that the rear axle has shifted to the drivers side about 1/4" (1/2" overall). I know that TRD Lift kit doesn't include a longer panhard bar. And the TRD Pro shares the same panhard bar with the rest of the trucks (I think).

What are others doing regarding the panhard bar length?

Dobinson makes an adjustable panhard but they don't want to use it below 1.25" of lift. https://overlandoutfitters.ca/produ...ck-bar-200-300-series-landcruiser-2022-tundra

I guess that the geometry will change all the time as load on the rear of the truck changes. So if I loose an inch in height with the trailer connected, I will be back to the original axle position. If I loose 2" of height, the axle will shift the other way?

So I am thinking that the rear axle moves left and right based on the suspension height and is shifting all the time.

I guess I am being too OCD with this question/condition.

I believe you need a 1/4” bracket extension sold by some vendors. There’s a thread on it somewhere.

No you’re not being OCD lol. it used to drive me nuts when I would lift the woody Grand Wagoneer Jeeps. Would have to disconnect the track bar however they had leaf springs.

I just ordered a Icon adjustable panhard bar. That should get my rear axle back in line.

What I don't get is how many owners have done a lift and have not reported any shift in the rear axle? Seems strange that it is not mentioned as a side effect of the TRD Lift. Or any other lift that raises the rear of the trucks. This would affect the tracking as the wheels will not be in line front to back!

I’m flabbergasted as well…. Wouldn’t the TRD SME have addressed this?! Or is it not installed correctly?

most people dont care or havent taken the time to notice. I know my axle is shifted over now that I've adjusted my air bags all the way up but Ive noticed no impact to driving characteristics so I let it be.

The TRD lift kit includes a drop bracket for the rear panhard bar, I believe.

When you lift a solid axle vehicle, it will always shift the axle over. It's just how suspension geometry works. Your choices are: 1) Install an adjustable panhard/traction bar or 2) install a drop bracket to lower the mounting point and thus "artificially" extend the OEM bar.

Thanks KroppDuster, I thought that kit didn't include a part to correct the panhard location. I wonder if the bracket is something that Toyota sells separately?

I have attached a photo of the parts list for the TRD kit. I am not too sure what the bracket is called? I looked through the install manual and didn't see any reference to the panhard/track bar at all. They don't even touch it.

You got me then. Looks like they don’t. Maybe one of the folks with the TRD lift can take a look at their rear axle and chime in. I’m sure it’s gotta be shifted slightly. The spacers they use in the TRD kit are quite large.

@Eurodriver , do you know if the panhard or trackbar was adjusted or brackets were lowered? This would have been after you got your 3" TRD lift.

I am asking because I put a 1" lift in the rear (similar to the TRD kit) and noticed the rear axle shifted to the driver side. Not by much but I could see one tire sticking out further than the other.

The picture I have attached is from Dobinson's website showing there adjustable panhard bar.

Thanks for looking at that. I think there is a bit of a tracking issue but I am not too sure how bad it is with just a 1" lift. Seems that Toyota isn't concerned about it or they would have added a part(s) to either extend the bar or add a bracket to move the position of the holes using the stock bar.

It might also be that that when there is anything in the bed the rear will drop and correct the shift. So when I have my trailer connected it may actual shift the other way? I don't know if it is worth modifying unless I plan to go higher in the rear??
