Never sit outside my Tundra while it was running so I didn't notice this until recently. My truck is very loud when it idles. It was coming from the front of the truck and sounds like something to do with the belts. Took it to the dealer and now waiting for a replacement idler pulley to come in.

Too much noise with stereo, exhaust, and too much sound proofing.

Yup, a common failure of design on Toyota's part...at least, that's what my mechanic states...I had to swap mine too almost immediately after buying the truck once the used belt dressing burned off...irked me but I know im good for at least another 50k miles...cost me about $200 parts and labor...and it was for the pulley and tensioner

17 months and 12k miles on it so still under warranty and hopefully it is a part covered under the extended warranty.

With the sound proofing, exhaust noise, A/C, and sound system, hard to hear anything from inside. Miss my 82 SR5 PU sometimes.

Would the idler pully also be the cause of squeaking/squeeling when accelerating?

It’s 40 bucks for the pulley and tensioner, it would be crazy just to replace one..

Got it replaced under warranty. Cost Toyota $225, Price for customers would have been $275. Per the tech, it would have eventually locked up and burned belts.
