I found out the hard way that if bug spray drips onto your oem door sills, they bubble up and are useless. This lead me to looking for new door sills and I cam across the idea of using illuminated door sills. After lots of online searching I found a company called OP Design out of Poland that made a set for my 2016 Platinum Crew Cab and they had a decent price of $95 for the fronts and $60 for the rear with shipping included for anywhere in the world. I figured for that price I would take a chance and worse case if they never arrived, I would just dispute the charge on my Amex.

Luckily they arrived in about 2 weeks after I ordered them via DHL. Initial inspection looks pretty good, although I was a little surprised that the fronts are identical to the rears. I'll have to see if there are any differences when I install.

If anyone is interested in them I'll post photos of the installation process and the final outcome.

Fwiw, I found some by ABS door sill and rocker panel protectors that I really like. Not illuminated, but they are full coverage and fit like a glove. Made by Bushwhacker and stick on with automotive 3m double sided tape. Good luck with the product above, hope it works out better than the Toyota OEM stick on crap that I started with. The coverage was lousy to say the least. Think that was a waste of about $70. The Bushwhacker product is affordable, durable, and aesthetically decent.

Have had these installed for a month now and I'm very happy with them. They are daylight bright and really illuminate the door sill area at night. I've received many complements about them overall I'm very happy with them. As some noted, these do about as good of job as the OEM door sills in protecting your door sills, which means little protection. They do look good and make the truck look more expensive.

Installation was pretty easy with finding the right wires to tap into being the hardest part.
    • Removing the OEM door sill required some heat, a plastic scrapper, and adhesive remover like Goo Gone. After the OEM door sill was removed I cleaned the surface with alcohol and was ready to go.
    • The sills are made to be installed right or left so that where the LED wires align with a gap in the weather striping so that you don't pinch the wire when running it.
    • There is plenty of room where the wiring harness is, which made wiring the sills very easy. To find the ground wire, you remove the door switch and see what color wire is used. Find that wire in the wiring harness and tap into it.
    • On the passenger side, I found a red wire that always had power and tapped into that. For the drivers side, I ran a wire from the fuse block, but if I had to do it again, I would probably tap another power wire in the wiring harness
    • I tried the cheaper spade splices at first, but could not make a good contact. I ended up buying Posi Tap Mini taps for 24-26 gauge wire which worked perfectly and resolved all issues. You could also probably use the 20-22 gauge versions as the ones I used were just barely large enough for the wires.
    • Note that I had to cut the insulation on some wires to test if they were the right ones as there were multiple the same color. I suggest to buy some liquid electrical tape to seal up the insulation after the fact.
    • The illuminated sills came with 3M White foam double side tape preinstalled. This seams to work find but only time will tell.
