Well, here we go! Just bought a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro and on the way home from work the Hybrid System Malfunction light came on and was running shaky. This thing has less than 1500 miles on it! In fact, I’m still waiting on the tags… ugh. It’s running solely on the motor and won’t drop out to hybrid while stopped. I bought this at a local dealer in League City, Tx and after calling them, they say I can drop it off but no loaners are available and they won’t be able to even look at it for a week or so. (Such service)
Anyway, Ive read the threads enough to have an idea of what it might be, but just wanted all to know that “THERE IS YET ANOTHER ISSUE” with the new Toyotas. Mind blowing. I’ll update with progression. Wish me luck!

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I hate that your Tundra experience is starting off like this. Is there another dealer nearby that might have a loaner program? If not, I would be calling Toyota corporate. A week before they can even look at it?!?

Wow. So much Toyota quality going on for owners.

I am surprised Hellakrusty let us know his truck isn’t the most perfect truck ever.

Very high priced and early recalls and repairs?

Did the 24s get the gas line & break squeal fixes from the factory?

I haven’t had any issues with squealing brakes so I guess all good there so far. And yeah, it’s an 80,000$ truck with early problems unfortunately. Hopefully it’s a quick fix. I’ll certainly post the conclusion as soon as I can.

Thanks for the compassion Baker. So, after being told they didn’t do loaners while there, I simply told them “yes you are going to provide a loaner”, management got involved and said they would provide a “rental” at my cost! What?!?!?! I let them know that I wasn’t paying for a rental and needed a loaner. They gave in to persistence and gave me a Highlander until fixed, free of charge. lol. It’s a shame that had to happen that way, but at least in ended up the way it did. Will post the conclusion.

Does anyone know if Toyota (reimbursement of some type to the dealership) or the dealership has to cover the expenses associated with a loaner vehicle? Certainly bad customer service since you just purchased it from them.

That's awesome to hear, though they should not have been such jerks about it. I would have instantly gone to the, "I'm calling Corporate about this." offense. Most dealerships don't want to deal with "Corporate" any more than the rest of us!

Thanks @drewdani001 for the pics so I know to keep an eye out for. My '24 Hybrid is so new (800 miles) and so far so good. I love driving it though.

My 2024 Limited had a rear differential fail at 1,100 miles. Service Advisor provided a no cost rental car for the two weeks the truck was in the shop. Also provided a rear differential fluid change at 6 months service no charge, along with my first oil/filter change as my 10k Chang even though I only had 2,057 miles. I think this kind of service depends on dealer policy.

also, my truck does not have the fuel system recall or squeaky brakes. The first notice I’ve received is that my second FOB is available, even though dealer took care of that for me in February when my truck was in the shop. So I think at least some issues were not applicable to mt ‘24.

I would think that provided you are under warranty, the dealer, your car insurance, or even the Visa card you use to buy your insurance with, would have a provision in there for loss of use

I’m always surprised how much gets taken out on the dealer. They didn’t build it yet are always stuck with the nasty unreasonable customers. How would you feel if you waited patiently that week or two for your turn at a repair and then they just said sorry we got someone else who just called who wants to be first…so we are pushing you back a bit to grease the squeak. Everyone has to be reasonable. It sucks. But being a whiny pregnant dog gets you nowhere in my book.

I actually agree 100%. In fact my father has managed car lots all of my life and I’ve heard the stories. There was actually nothing aggressive about this episode. It was an understanding that was quick to come by. So as it turns out, the dealership actuall files against my warranty to fit the bill for the rental. So, being this is the case, and the fact that I had just purchased one of the most expensive vehicles on the lot, the resistance to do the right thing, and back your customers, came as an upset in the beginning. Especially as I just wanted a loaner. Nothing was said about bumping anyone out of their schedules. Of course I would like it back sooner than later, but so does the next guy. Just a little talk about the situation and they quickly, and easily, lent the loaner. They tried to get me to pay for it too. Ugh. Anyway, Everyone walked away in good spirits. Dealers are only the middle man, but we are still their customers. “Repeat customers” are made…..

Mine has had minor issues thus far, thank the Lord! But my brakes weren't squealing until about 5K miles. Now, almost every time the vehicle is "cold", the brakes squeal when going in reverse. It's loud and embarrassing that a brand new truck has brakes that sound like a semi when I back up, but it is what is. Mine never had the fuel line recall, so I'm assuming it came updated from the factory. But congrats on the new whip! They are expensive, my Limited Hybrid was $68K, not fully loaded. Missing JBL, sunroof, and upgraded headlights, but I love it, especially after the lift, new rims, and new 35" shoes. If only the gas mileage survived the new look.

Very cool. Thanks for the reply and the “congrats”. Might you post a pic of truck after the adjustments? Am thinking of putting new feet on it as well (35’s) and would love to see yours…. Also, how high was lift? Could it have accommodated the tires without the lift and maybe just a leveling kit?

I can loan my 1997 T-100 (it runs like the day I drove it off the dealer lot) to the OP if the dealer absolutely won't help you out. :crapstorm:
