So out the door with the wiring harness and install kit was right at $500. Best Buy did a free install. It has Apple Play a USB port Bluetooth and Navigation. The back up camera comes on Automatically in reverse. It sounds much better Tundra Radio3.jpg than the stock system. He removed the OEM behind the dash amp as well. Those Sony radios are real nice. It just absolutely baffles me that the ax1000 doesn't support android auto. I could have got a smokin deal on one 2nd hand then I realized it was useless for me with an android.
My ax200 in my Lexus is great. Hard to find any touch screen double din with a volume knob anymore. Good choice.

I have the same head unit. I just bought a tailgate camera from Master tailgaters and need some help from wiring gurus.

I would like to be able to use the camera button on the radio to see camera when not in reverse and to have camera auto switch on when I select reverse. With that said here is my plan:
From the camera run the red, black and rca to the to head unit.
Red from camera to red ACC on HU
Black from camera to black ground on HU
    RCA to HU
Tap a separate wire from reverse lights to purple trigger wire on HU.

    does this sound correct?

I have read every back up camera post on here and can’t find my answer. Thanks for the help.

Sounds bout right. The way you ran it will basically power the camera anytime it is in the acc position. All you need now is the reverse trigger. If you can pull that from behind the radio, tap into that and hook that up to the reverse wire on the new radio. This way, when u put in reverse the radio get the signal and switch over to camera screen. Then when not in reverse you can hit the camera button on your radio and it would show camera.

Well..... that's not what I would do.
A couple of questions ...1 do you spend more time watching cam backing up, or 2 just watching the view as you drive, sorta like a rear view mirror?
The reason I ask is If I wanted the Rear view mirror thing, I would do this ....

wire a relay, DPDT, wire the cam video to the common pin of one switch of the DPDT relay. Then wire n.c. pin is sent to the AUX video in, the HU backup cam video input is wired to the n.o. pin of the relay. this will pass the video to the backup cam in port of the HU.

On the power, my thought is since the relay will be off most of the time, wiring the rear cam video through the N.C. will the cam to be on, and ready to be viewed in the HU Aux video mode. When the relay is enabled via the +12 from the backup light voltage, the relay will then pass video to the Rear cam input. You will need to add the Purple HU wire to this as well so the HU switched automatically to backup mode.

I added an unnecessary power switching circuit on the other half of the DPDT relay, so you can ignore that part, I overkill things!

Thanks for the reply. But you just confused the hell out of me…lol. I really have limited knowledge of electronics. Can you dumb this down for me. Thanks

Hi there, this is as simple as it gets! If you get a relay, it will be marked n.c com n.o. It's a simple switch! one side n.c. is always connected when off, the other side n.o. will connect when energized. You are simple using the relay off mode to put the video into the video input of your HU. When you go in reverse, the relay will be energized putting the relay into the Reverse cam input! The power diagram just powers the relay, and energizes the HU purple wire input putting the cam video in the reverse cam function into the HU!
If you know someone who knows basic electronics, show them this thread, they hopefully can assist in assembling this thing! If you lived in Los Angeles, I could explain in person and assist you in the install... This circuit will give you everything you have asked for, and it's automatic.

yeah, it really is a simple mod, you just need a tad of guidance! You will also need to common ground the video shields! Only the center conductor goes to the relay.
If you can construct a small box with RCA connectors for the video, it will make the install easier!
    Any more questions, just ask!
If I can help. I will!!!
