I was installing interior LED lights (dome, map, visor, floor) and I couldn't get one bulb secure and it appears I blew a fuse. No lights work now. I located the fuse box under the hood and checked all 5, 15 & 20 amp fuses which are all good. I read online about a 2nd fuse box under the driver's side kick panel. I don't see a 2nd fuse box. Can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed? Thanks.

It’s above / adjacent to the parking brake pedal. You have to get almost right below it to see it. It will have a cover on it

Thanks for the photo Jonathan. That panel is hidden up there! I saw one labeled "dome" and checked it as well as all the others and I didn't see any blown. I've already checked the fuses in the engine bay and again, nothing. Not sure what to do but I have no interior lights.

I’d say replace the dome fuse. Even if it might look okay. I’d start there

Usually it is in the map lights above. Sometimes you need to replace that whole piece up there. It happens sometimes if you are not careful. They can all go in just fine and then you have one that does not want to fit up there the right way and BAM!! Blown fuse in that case blown what ever is up there in the map light area???

something about that map light area,, seems like the fuse holders are not made well or solid and it shorts out the whole thing?

Fixed it to read map lights.

    ^

Good point as well. A fried board that completes the circuit? Hopefully it’s not that extent but a possibility

I replaced my dome lights first which worked fine but the map light gave me trouble and when I wriggled it the fuse blew. Although it looks good, I'll replace the dome fuse and see what happens.

I blew a fuse on mine when I was working on replacing my interior lights and it was the fuse under the hood. You may want to replace it just to be sure.

Yup^^^^^i have seen a few that the whole map section needs to be replaced.

I meant the map lights not the dome lights. The map lights blow the circuit.

Well, I figured out that the fuse was indeed blown. My 55 year old eyes couldn't see and then I found my readers! Once I replaced the fuse I had lights. Unfortunately, I buggered the driver's side map light when I was installing the LED (probably bent the prongs) so it doesn't work. I'll worry about that later. Thanks!

Well, the issue has been resolved. First, I replaced the fuse which provided power to my interior lights. When installing the left map light LED, the socket pushed inward so I couldn't secure the LED bulb. I followed a previous thread (posted below) and removed the center overhead console and saw where the socket had given way so I bent it back in place and secured it with a little Superglue and reinstalled the LED bulb. I connected it while the center console was off and it worked so I reinstalled the four T20 screws. It took about 20 minutes. You'll see how the copper strips do not securely attach to the plastic so any amount of pressure pushes it inward making it unusable. I hope the thread below helps you as much as it did me! Thanks for the input.

That map light interior is not made the best!:) Glad you were able to fix it,,, even if it took superglue!!!!:)

I had the same experience; however, when I tried to "rehabilitate" the passenger side map light copper pring, it broke off! I probably buggered it up when I was trying to replace the old bulb without removing the whole map light console. Bad idea! Take the extra time and work on this particular item when it's not in the truck. Also, have a 7.5A fuse handy, just in case! Hoping some self adhesive copper strip can be utilized to repair the broken holder! The rest of the lights are super easy to swap out for LEDs - I bought the 19 piece kit from Amazon, and it wokred great! Mine even came with new cargo lights and licence plate lights. One more friendly tip - get one extra LED for the cargo lights bar if you decide to change them, so you can change your high stop light while the cover is open! It was a very nice upgrade over the old school lighting that came stock in my 2017.
