I am going to install my own dash cam and I need to know where is the best place to tap into ACC? I am also running a rear camera and I am going to have to get into the cab with a cable. I did it on my old truck. It was a 2019 SR5 and there was a boot close to the glove box, but I have a 2023 HV and there is a huge inverter against the firewall there.

Did Toyota screw the pooch on the factory dash cam or what? There are like 6 or 8 cameras and it only uses its own camera out front. Mine is having a problem writing videos correctly. Half of the files are invalid when I try to watch them over wifi or if I pull the SD card and slap it in my pc.

There is no "Save" button to set the current file to RO. Read only. That way it won't be overwritten down the road. I know they say it is automatically marked RO after triggered by g-sensor but there are times where it is necessary to save something.

This camera I am installing has front, rear, and if I want, an internal camera recording inside the cab.

I have a Garmin Mini 2 that I used in a previous vehicle. I used the Dongar pigtail as mentioned by catch22. Youtube video is available to show you how to install it. Works well. I do not, however, use a rear view camera.

I use the Garmin Mini 2 with the Dongar harness. It plugs right into an existing power source above the rearview mirror.

All sound good, but how to decide 5 pin or 10 pin on 2024 Tundra Platinum?

Does this factory USB connector offer 24/7 power or just when ACC is on? My dashcam will require ACC power AND 24/7 power for the parking "listening" option.

Just remove the center panel in front of the rear view mirror. Removal instruction is at the beginning of their installation video. The connector is right there tucked up in the hole but you might have to unplug it to get the size. Or look at how many wires go in.

I just went with wiring that came with my new dash cam. It was all fun and games after I found the internal fuse box!!! It was on the passenger side!! :der: I ran the rear camera underneath secured to brake lines or existing wiring harnesses and I put the cable through a grommet under the passenger seat. It was close enough the side to easily run the cable under the door threshold cover. The rest of it was pretty easy. I removed the grab handle so I could pull the A-pillar back to get the wires properly behind it. The wires tucked in easily under the front of the headliner. Be sure to push it back far enough under the headliner.
It was a lot easier than doing the same on my 2019 Tundra.

Anyone need a piece of chit Toyota factory dash cam?? Make a great stocking stuffer. :santa2: Holy crap, Toyota parts is $315 on this camera. :censored:

I have a Vantrue N4 Pro for about 6 months installed with the dongar. My Vantrue goes into parking mode when I turn off the truck. So not 100% sure if its 100% power all the time. I'm guessing not if my dashcam and sense the key being turned off.

@SSterbenz Do you have both front/rear cameras installed on your N4? Does the Dongar 5 pin Type A connector work or did it require a different connector? Do you still have to power the N4 with the cigarette lighter power?

Currently only front camera, I was waiting for my Lone Peak Overland camper install, so now going to install it in the rear window of the camper. I was able to use the USB C to USB A for all power needs. Cable came with the camera. The camera goes into parking mode when I turn off the key. So not sure if it's 24/7 power. Thinking no. I should of tested before completing to confirm. But it's working as I need. I really don't need the screen on lighting up the truck inside. In parking mode it can be set to motion or bump.

OK. 5 vs 10 pin connector. here is the answer from Dongar. It appears that either the 5 or 10 pin can be used, and best I can tell both adapters are located in "almost" the same location. They say the 5 pin is what Toyota uses for theirs.

Thanks for the interest! There are two products that will work with your 2022+ Tundra.

    1) Mirror adapter: https://dongar.tech/products/10pin-type-b-lexus-toyota. This connector port is located under the shroud at the base of your mirror. You can see a similar installation in this Toyota Sienna installation video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FmcnFMC0ok. This product is ignition-switched only and powers on only when the vehicle is started.

    2) Roof "option connector"...lead time is 3-5 days to ship. This uses the 5-pin connector above the domelight console which is also what the Toyota OEM dash cam option uses: https://dongar.tech/products/optionconnectortoyota. This product is ignition-switched only and powers on only when the vehicle is started. Here is how to access this connector:
