I have removed both pinch bolts on the intermediate shaft. I cannot get this to come off of either the steering rack or the shaft itself.

I have tried to get a little wedge up in there and after about 30 minutes, I still can’t get it to come off. Any suggestions?

Remove the bolts holding it to the bottom coupler and open up the shaft upper coupler on a vice to get it out.

    Impact won’t get them out?

Looks like a shallow wobble socket is required to get in there so that may be an issue.

Have you sprayed any penetrant on the upper splines? They look dry as a bone

Got it removed with help from my neighbor. I am going replace the intermediate shaft as well. The little round bushing thing in this pic, I can’t tell if it is actually broken or if that’s split is there it looks very smooth like it’s almost supposed to be there. I was looking at the intermediate shafts online and none of them seem to come with that little rubber bushing and neither did my new rack and pinion can I just reuse that?

    Couldn’t hurt to reuse it.

Mind you: The following link is for my '06, which may differ significantly from your '02.

    That said: https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/tundra/uck40/3806/chassis/4501/?full

Mouseover any number for a description. Click on any number to get a Toyota part number. But moreover, rather than aimlessly plug around for parts, please use the bullets at the top of this sticky thread to help yourself. After you plug in your VIN, click through onto "Transmission & Chassis", then click on "Steering column & shaft". Click 'open full size scheme' to get the big view I linked above, so you can see things more clearly.
