Courtesy of @bfunke via Toyota's own TSB, NO they are not compatible in Toyota's eyes if we go by their TSB.
'00-'02 uses Dex3 (or higher, All DEX fluids are reverse-compatible).
    '03-'04 uses T-IV.
    '05-'06 uses WS.
    Stick with what Toyota recommends.

If it's running fine today, yes.

But if you're really that concerned, and you - being in Ohio - are confident your frame is actually intact and in good shape, which is rare for rust belt trucks, then you may want to find a BG "gold" level shop (locator here) and have them do a full BG transmission treatment. Not only will BG fully warranty the transmission for a period of time after treatment (years, but I forget how many), but their fluids exceed Toyota spec, and contains additive packages that (supposedly) has been shown to prolong the lifespan of the transmissions Toyota used in their trucks and SUVs. At least it's the case for my sealed 5spd.

One option for you to consider is disconnecting a cooler line and catching the old fluid and every couple quarts replacing an equal amount. Do that with until the fluid looks new. Then set the level correctly. Someone recently did that but it might have been in one of the other Gens threads.
