Was recently in a crash and the truck has been sitting in my driveway while I’m waiting for it to get towed but with the holidays it’s been a pain. The airbags did not go off, there is no frame damage that I can see. It runs perfectly fine and does drive. To me it looks cosmetic but I’d love another opinion. I will add it is not as bad as the picture looks.(The broken running board was already there)

Impossible to know until a reliable body shop gets a look at it. I've seen trucks that looks way worse be repaired, and some that looked way better get totaled.

The worry with a diagonal hit is whether the frame is bent. If bent then it is an issue. The good news is that the air bags did not deploy because they are $2-3K per bag if deployed. With the value of trucks it may not be totaled but is the frame is not straight then that is a major issue.

Besides the rad support, that looks like a fairly easy repair with replacement parts.

Hoping that the frame isn’t affected. You’re right with the value of trucks, and especially these v8 tundras, it will hopefully not exceed its value if it’s just cosmetic.

Definitely thankful that everyone is okay. Just praying that the frame wasn’t bent at all.

That stinks but glad everyone is ok. As others have stated, impossible to know until you get it to the body shop. The plus side is air bags didn’t go off…..that’s a huge predictor in most cases. This is one that if they total it but the frame damage is minimal and can be straightened, you might want to consider buying it from the insurance company and having a shop fix it…..

I hope for your sake it isn't. This is my nightmare. Yes, in some ways I'd love a new truck. But in the long term, you won't find a better one and the cost to switch over even with insurance won't be cheap.

Good luck and let us know.

It got into the structural part of the radiator support and inner fender. My guess is they will say it's going to cost more than it's worth. That being said, parts for them are in demand, maybe worth parting it out to recover any loss.

I don't know op's milage. year or trim, but newer 2.5nd gens in good shape go over 40k near me. The lowest I've seen them (down to a 2013) is at 20k. So its going to take a bent frame to total this thing imo.

Pretty much the same damage, I'm just going to piece mine back together with what I can find at junk yards, this forum, and Craigslist.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Sorry about your accident.
Looks to be an SR5 DC.
What is the mileage on it?

Did you add the OEM LED headlights or did they come with the truck?
Might be a factor in your insurance and body shop estimates and part replacement.

    I'm not a body shop guy but I don't think it's totaled.
    I'd certainly be looking into a front-end alignment..

First off I had no idea this forum existed before this so I’ll definitely stay on here now! Mileage is just below 95,000. The headlights were aftermarket but they were put on by the previous owner so I’m not sure how that will affect the insurance.

It’s a 2018 sr5 double cab and the mileage is just below 95,000. Definitely agree that it’s going to take a bent frame to total it, extremely glad the airbags didn’t go off because that would’ve done the job.

I hope they will fix it.
I'd rather have that truck than a newer Tundra..

Those look like 2018+ OEM LED headlights.
    Just not sure which one.
There are a couple of versions, mine are TRD Pro blacked out lights.
Yours look like they have the silver trim.
Either way, the part number will be on the headlight when it's pulled out.

You can read about the upgrade here and see if it has an @iHacker adapter for the wiring.

2018 SR5 with convenience package (think that's what it's called) halogen lights with LED DRL is most likely what it came with. From what I can tell the difference is that the DRL is a full surround instead of just the strip that I have and it's been blacked out a bit.

    IMG_20241128_115440043.jpg
With low miles your good, mine at 205 would probably be a total loss.

I had nearly identical damage on my truck from striking a cow. No frame damage, no airbag deployment. Estimate was $12k to fix and it is being repaired.

First off sorry that happened and hope you’re okay. Just out of curiosity did you have radiator support damage. That is the one thing that I am concerned about if I have to replace it.

New Tundra IMO is a hard NO. Best 1/2 ton on the market currently is a Chevy with the baby Duramax.

Try to have the owner of the body shop that you will choose to fix it and the adjuster look at it TOGETHER. If that is possible, you'll be in better shape as the shop and adjuster comes to terms on what the damage is and agree on the tab to fix it.

Thats 12k-15k easy including radiator core support replacement. Doubt it's totaled. Tundra value is too high on a 2018 unless you are high mileage. Make sure they replace radiator mount bushings (that mount to frame). Many non-OEM repair shops won't do that and/or insurance tries to not pay for them.
