Is NAViKS my best option? Reviews/other head unit recommendations? (it's on sale now)

[ 1st thread! :) - I am thinking intro and build threads will be coming soon ]

Purchased my first Toyota back in early summer this year. Done a few basic mods, mostly chrome deletion and have A LOT of ideas in the works thanks to you lot.

I want to address the audio/infotainment/head unit interface here, just one of those severely disappointing fit and finish aspects of Toyotas, but that's not really why we drive Tundras is it.

    What I want (very simple):
    - Apple CarPlay
    - Uninterrupted use of OEM backup camera and mic

    What I don't care about:
    - Adding extra cameras and/or mics
    - Adding extra speakers

I am thinking that the NAViKS would be the simplest most effective solution, the phone mirroring is intriguing also. I'm wondering if anyone has experiences good or bad with it. I could be swayed toward something else if it's got a superior user interface/audio interface (preferably CarPlay), better screen quality/resolution, other benefits, etc... Recommendations?

FYI - NAViKS is on sale currently, $550 for the basic, $750 to add mirroring.

Never heard of it but I would put that kind of money towards an aftermarket head unit. The OEM radio is crap and swapping it out is a much better option.

Aftermarket stereos/head units are a totally new subject for me. I know there are a ton of options out there, but what do you have? Do you like it? Or know of well-liked options?

My only thing is I want to keep it simple and don't want to have to install new secondary backup cameras, mics, etc. because of the new unit... maybe that is not as common of an issue as I think it is.
