Is there a way to get the cruise control to work in a traditional manner, or only the radar adaptive cruise control?

Yes, turn off the radar adaptive function in your instrument panel settings.

Simply hold the cruise control button for 3 seconds and it will change from adaptive cruise to regular cruise. You will see the display message change in the instrument cluster.

    easy peasy!

ah-ha! That's it. Thanks. I poured over the owners manual and tried every setting on the steering wheel controls and couldn't find out how to do that. Very helpful.
