Is there a way to convert a key fob so that the key folds into the fob?

I'm interested in this as well.

Mine has the push button start.

There is a key in the remote but I would rather have a flip key for the truck.

I purchased a folding key fob but was never able to find a place to program it. I basically gave up and have missed place the fob.

I installed the OEM tailgate lock last summer. I haven't pulled that little key out since then.

Thanks, yes that is the fob/ key I have.

I'm sure I will have a key cut. I just like the flip open style key/fob better than what I have now.

As stupid expensive these are, you would think a person could have a choice.

The only thing I use the key for is to roll down all the windows and open the sun roof from the outside on hot days.

A flip key would serve me better.

Valid. OP lives in AZ so the window down feature might be helpful.

For the 3 days of sunshine we get in Ohio, I don't need to preroll down my windows lol

I have one. You can use Techstream to program the key. I had a locksmith cut the key. There is a number printed on the key. Make sure the key your buying is the same one. Also there is a frequency number that is printed on the back. That has to match as well. I had a flip key for my 2020 and 2016 so it will be available for your 2019.

I got one of eBay and used Tom's key programmer no issues 2+ years ago

I used Tom's key programmer as well..........the whole experience was kind of janky to be honest. Their stupid "take a pic" of your key never worked, after they sent it twice. I still need to get the key cut, at least they sent me a bunch of blanks. On the FOB programming, I thought I had deleted all the keys on accident at first when I couldn't get the original to work. Ended up working, but was sketchy.

I went to my local locksmith (Busy Bees Locks and Keys). They had two folding key fob options. I chose the one I liked the most and they set it up for me. I had looked at Tom's and other options and I'm generally a DIYer, but I decided to have someone do it that does it all the time. They were in and out of my truck a few times with their computer getting it setup. It was right about $200 out the door. Works great. (2nd gen 2008). Tundra_foldable.jpg

$200 is a good deal, that's about how much Tom's cost me in the long run.

So I ordered two flip keys off eBay, rented the programmer from Tom’s Keys, and my local dealer said they’d cut the keys for free. Will try and remember to update the thread when it’s all said and done. With the “core charge” return after I send back the programmer all said and done I’ll only be out money for the programmer. *fingers crossed*

They love spending your money around here lol! I've spent some $1500 in the past week and a half...

Gotta stop for a bit, whilst I save up for a DD exhaust

Bought a flip key from eBay for $40.
Local locksmith cut and programmed the key for $25. Took all of 8 minutes. Was one of the first things I did when I bought the truck 4 years ago.
Haven’t even had to swap a battery yet and I remote start the truck every time.
