I know there isn't a way to do it from the factory but is there an aftermarket option?

Doubt it, batteries and re-gen system aren't sufficient enough to do so. Or if you could, you wouldn't be able to go very far.

technically the tundra doesnt have any sort of ev mode so to speak.

all the batteries are for is to supplement the gas engine as a temp short duration boost (duration is probably shorter than 5-10 mins tops)

There are times when it runs on EV only though like through parking lots or putting around neighborhoods (if the battery level is high enough) so I get the idea that you may be able to bypass something and only have it run on EV but you're asking to get stranded somewhere haha.

yeah i know about parking mode <18mph, but it wont last very long, still only about 5 mins on avg maybe 10 mins.

the battery pack is really small in the hybrid, 1.87 kwh

the prius is hella bigger at 8.8 kwh which will give it about 25 miles of ev only range

You could drive for a mile or so in EV at 35-40 mph but on flat road. It’ll go longer if the battery is full. Just keep the MAX gauge below half and you can force it to stay in EV.

Yes. I ran out of gas once. It went into ev. I didn’t notice because it was quiet. Than realized it did. One other thing it wasn’t very fast. So good thing I wasn’t on the freeway. Also the tundra ran out of gas as soon as it went to zero.

Are you saying that if I run out of gas that it will go into an EV limp mode until the hybrid battery runs dead?

The Tundra will not run in ev mode if it runs out of fuel... it doesn't have a limp mode..

The manual says hybrid mode won’t work if the low fuel light comes on. Says to refuel and ensure at least 5 gal are in the tank and hybrid engine will work again.
