Just saw this come across my computer. "IF" this is real, I might have to really consider putting a deposit down on this.

100% fake and pure speculation for the clickbait. Toyota has pretty much all but admitted that they prefer to leave the HD truck market (3/4 ton & higher) to the domestic 3. They focus on light duty daily drivers and enthusiast trucks.

Toyota has very good diesel engines, like... crazy good. The V6 diesel from latest Land Cruiser on a Tundra would absolutely make sense... anyone care to swap it? :)

lol if that was coming out in 2024, it would have already been presented at the chicago auto show. toyota has shifted new release showing during the chicago auto show, from when it use to be during the naias in january (but discontinued). they also do a public showing during the texas state fair for those shown during the chicago auto show.

and as has been posted above, toyota would never enter the HD market. that are happy in the entry level full size truck segment.

This one is also coming out soon. Although it actually did exist, as a custom job.

lol then what the dam point in doing that if you have to gut the entire engine/drive train to get a diesel engine in the truck. thats completely incompatible with the hybrid trans and not to mention the 10 speed trans in the non hybrid.

add to the fact you would have to take it to a 3rd party diesel engine mechanic to service it and you would get no warranty from the day you swapped it. 99.99% of owners wouldnt want the hassle of that red head stepchild, plus the def, the exhaust system, the gas price differential wouldnt even break even unless you drove it into the ground.

yeah pipe dream of someone with money to burn maybe as a exercise of amusement and throw away afterwards.

A good diesel engine alone does not a HD truck make. :) You gotta have that spicy frame, heavy axles, and brawny-man tough suspension to go with it. :dancingbacon:

The LC300 isn't available in North America. I doubt the diesel inside it meets our arbitrary emissions standards - good luck importing one.

It doesn't. Toyota also said they have no intention of using diesel in the USA as the emissions crap kills the reliability.

It would be nice if they brought back a v8 as an option. I know their answer is the I Force Max aka add an electric motor into the mix. But honestly, I think we can all see they f_cked up that plan. If they have to placate to the US government’s BS energy policies, then give us an efficient lower displacement v8. I’m thinking an over build 4.0tt would suffice.
