is Toyota now accepting factory orders?

I seen this on TV the other day. Can anyone confirm this?

 

LAST TIME I TALKED TO DEALERSHIP FEW WEEKS AGO EVERYTHING WAS ORDERED, BUT IT WAS MORE OF THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE COMING IN ARE YOU INTERESTED.

 

Reserve an incoming. Same allotment system as always. You don't factory order them. You tell the dealer what you want and they try to find the closest match and put in a request for it. But the factory won't custom order your vehicle.

 

Are you sure? You should speak up the next time you talk to them to make sure they heard you.

 

To answer the question in the title; no. As always, you cannot special order from Toyota. This is just an ad stating you can reserve an allotted vehicle before it has arrived.

 

I placed an order for a RAV4 hybrid lunar rock. Sent my guy the build I wanted and he gave me back 2 options of builds that they normally get allocated.

so no you can not “order” but you can reserve an allocation that is close to what u want. In my case I was told sunroof has to have heated seats in the build. Can’t get a sunroof without heat seats in that trim in my region.
Also was told 6-9 month wait.

 

Nothing new here..Just Toyota being Toyota...You get what we build... enjoy it...

 

Or go on that unicorn hunt for a unicorn that really wouldn't be a unicorn but for Toyota's production strategy. What a PITA it is.

 

He doesn't realize that when picking the packages it will override and delete his previous choice. So you can't even spec it exactly the way you want it there.

 

And then if you do get it built the way u want. Toyota won’t make it that way.

 

I get a kick out of Toyota having a "build and price" tool. It's more like a "you wish you could get one like this" tool... and you might, if we decide to make it... and IF we decide to send it to your region where your dealer MAY be able to acquire it. This thread has enlightened me. Before this I actually did not know Toyota would not take a specific customer order... because, after all, they had a build and price tool.

 

right now where i am the dealers cannot put in allocation requests via dealer daily. all they can get is what the regional distro port sends them. i told them once dealer allocation requests can be put into dealer daily is when i will order our platinum.

 

Seems like there just aren't enough yet for that. And maybe production and deliveries have been impacted by wastegate gate? Our 2 local dealers initially showed about a dozen inbound in transit, and one dealer had 2 of those transition to "in stock" but were sold and gone by the next day. But zero new Tundras have appeared on their inventories in a couple of weeks.

 

we can wait. we dont want certain PIO installed on the our platinum. alot of the ones i have seen come with the auto boards and no avs system. we dont need the auto boards since its a waste of money up here in ND during the winters when they are frozen in place all winter.

we want the avs system for the hud but still debating if its worth cost to repair outside of warranty since most toyota suspension leveling systems fail. our intentions is to keep this tundra long term as we knew the 2018 was a short term ownership due to lack of key interior features we wanted which the 22 now has.
