Issues to look for when buying a 2014-21 Tundra?

I currently own a 2015 SR5 flex fuel. I think I’ve figured out the flex fuel issue thanks to the great info on this site. But she has 210k. My original plan in buying the truck in 2017 was to drive it “forever” which I still might do. However, I was contemplating upgrading to a newer 2.5 Gen in order to have a lower mile truck with nicer trim level, LED lights, and additional safety features etc. Basically everything that was added in later years. Since Toyota went to the V6 turbos, the V8s are getting older and older and I was hoping to snag one in the next year or so if the market is right. Currently seeing $42k in my area for a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles.

Other than the flex fuel issue (which I know all too well about) in terms of engine, performance, recall, or electrical issues common to later 2.5 Gen what should I look out for if test driving, looking under the hood or under the car?

    thanks in advance!

What's your issue with Flexfuel? I have a 2015 FF but haven't had any issues yet.

Personally no. I bought the truck with 70k miles. I don’t know if the original owner did but I don’t think the issue depends on that.

Cam tower leaks, valley plate coolant leaks, lacking auxiliary transmission cooler, sticky or stuck 4x4 engagement, frame rust, water in rear diff from boat launching, lots of paint chips around safety chain loops on the hitch (indicator of frequent towing).
Beware of flood damage as well!

If it has oversize tires assume it has more miles than listed.

Not mine but have the exact same truck and very pleased. I do think you would enjoy a 2020 or 2021, I just remembered this one had low mileage and reasonably priced. Funny story! I reached out to the dealership trying to buy the topper, no dice but I thought what the hell worth a shot.
