I found a truck I like it’s 90% what I was looking for except it doesn’t have the JBL audio just wondering who has JBL audio and do you think is it any good Is the regular audio that bad I I don’t think it would be a dealbreaker just curious to see what people think

I had JBL in my 17 Tacoma and I have the premium non-JBL in my new tundra the biggest issue I noticed is the bass doesn’t hit as hard perfectly fine for me though

Factory JBL system is garbage. Best modification I have done yet is to yank the Factory system.

It all depends on your expectation of the audio system. If you are the type person who considers yourself an audiophile, the JBL probably won't meet your expectations but for most people the JBL stereo in the 2022 Tundra is more than adequate and provides a better than average (factory stereo) experience. I have no experience with the non JBL system in the 2022 so I can't speak on that.

Tundra stereo systems, JBL or not should not be a factor in purchasing the truck. They are not great. Don't let that or having/not having factory NAV impact your buying desicsion.

Buy the truck by and replace the head unit and speakers, add an amp and sub…..don’t be afraid to go used and install yourself to save some money. All worth it in the long run

It's easier to modify the non-JBL system to something decent and get way more out of your truck than it is to pay extra for the utterly useless JBL, and need to junk it.
When I picked up my new truck and was driving home, trying to turn up the radio, and I was shocked. I literally turned around and went back to the dealership because I thought the JBl was so pathetically bad, that it had to be broken. They looked at me and said.. " it's brand new, it can't be broken". I told them the only person who can listen to such a horrible sound system can only be deaf.
This is what I did when I got home...

The JBL premium is pretty awesome. Music and podcasts sound great and the piped in engine noise is nice.

I don’t have jbl in my truck so what do I have? Tried looking through the manual real quick and couldn’t find the answer. No name brand? It sounds ok, just have to raise the volume to the 30s-40s. Probably due to being on a naval ship

I live up in Saucier and dealing with Estabrook Toyota after J. Allen was adding a $4995 dealer markup to MSRP. Where did you find your 2022 and by any chance do you work at the veterinarian office on Hwy 53?

Agree with this statement. I also had a 2017 Tacoma with the JBL sound system. The only difference I can find between that and the sound system in my 2022 Tundra(premium no JBL) is that the Tacoma had more bass. Everything else seems the same.

My early 90s alarm clock radio sounds better than the crap Toyota put in my Tundra. That said, I didn't buy it for the system.

I had JBL in a 2016 4Runner and my 2011 Taco, they all suck equally, no different than my 2021.

The worse thing the JBL has going for it is there are 5 tweeters across the front all in a row, 2 in the front doors and 3 in the dash. I replaced the ones in the corners of the dash with good full range speakers and it improved the sound a lot. Also I'm don't like 'thump' in my music so a huge woofer vibrating the truck isn't for me. The entune head unit lets you do some modifications that you'll lose also.
I live in my house and drive my truck so I've got a system at home that I bought when I was stationed overseas for my 'listening pleasure'.

The JBL premium is a little light on bass, but the door speakers are pretty capable. It's like the frequency range of the sub wasn't thought out well. But if you catch the right song, it will wake right up and do about what you should expect of an 8" sub...which isn't a ton, but is enough to have fun with a rap song or other genres with an optimum frequency.

Based on previous threads (and my own experience in my 19), a WHOLE LOT of people didn't go in and play with the EQ. I was really disappointed in it until I realized the EQ was in a default condition, and it has to be adjusted for EACH source. XM, bluetooth, CD. It's not a bad system if you aren't a complete audiophile. If you have to have a full range sub and super powerful doors and extra tasty crispy tweeters, then you'll be disappointed.

I think it's hilarious that 2nd gen owners are saying its not worth it, yes it may not be worth it in our generation but I think OP is after feedback from those with 3rd Gen's and if the JBL has been improved enough to make it worth the extra cost.

Have it on a 1794 and love it. 15 year old who likes it loud thinks it sounds great as well.

Granted in coming out of an almost 14 year old car but man what a difference…

It actually sounds not too bad if the EQ is tweaked a bit.

Try the EQ below, you should notice significant improvement in the way the system sounds.

might be a stupid question but how do you usually set the EQ up? from dealing with the knobs in vehicles way back when, I'm used to just putting the treble close to max, the bass a lil pass half, and mid in the middle
