Is it just me or does it seem like the subwoofer is dead? No bass boom whatsoever. Thoughts?

Its not just you. The system attenuates the bass at higher volumes to keep you from blowing the door speakers.

Toyota Tundra's have NO boom. I had to take my 2020 limited crew cab to Colorado Car Auto. in Golden .. Now I have lots of boom . Moe knows the stuff . and made me a believer in their selection to put great boom in my truck .

It's pretty bad honestly, but have you tried adjusting the sound levels? You can get a little more out of it by playing with the bass, treble and mid settings. Note that you have to change the settings for EACH source, otherwise CarPlay will sound better, but Bluetooth will sound bad, etc.

The one most irksome feature is the 'deafening' the system does when there's a loud sudden part of a song/audio you're listening to. So for me being a metalhead, when it goes silent right before the breakdown in a song and then it comes back hard, my radio decides it needs to nanny my ears and quiet it down for ~1 second once the music resumes.

Can't seem to find any info on how to turn that off but I'm ready to rip the whole thing out and replace every component.

Its an automated bass level off as far as I understand, there isn't a menu option to fix it. It doesn't look like replacement of the full system is necessary either, there are options to keep the head unit as well (you'll still want to replace the speakers).

My only complaint with my truck. My sparkomatic cassette player in my firefly back in the day had more boom. Yes... I had a firefly.

I replaced the factory sub with dual 12" Infinity Reference subs set to 4 ohm wired in parallel to represent 2 ohm that the factory sub was, I actually got some thump now after adjusting the mid/treble/bass for the sources that I use. Mirrors actually vibrate little on certain songs, I ahve to have the volume close to MAX though.

This was the first step of my upgrade.

Wait, are you saying you're running those off the factory amp?

Yep just off the factory amp. Not bad bass once you get a quality sub.

Interesting, I assumed one would replace the amp. How many watts can it put out?
