I have a 2013 Double Cab with what I believe to be stock rails in the bed -- The truck is new to me.

I am thinking about how to carry a Jerry Can or two for camping and extended road trips. Ideally I would like something lockable that self vents.

I really like the look of the rotopax product, but the price! Tapping the collective mind trust here to see what y'all have done or seen that does the job and looks tidy.

If there was some sort of mounting option that uses the back rail that would be awesome!

Alot of people mount a 5 gallon bracket like this one in a bed corner either directly to the bed or using a bracket to the bed rails. The scepter military gas can is extremely reliable but very hard to get in the US, try ebay. For my camping setup I made a pressure treated frame that sits in the back of the bed and uses 4 rail bolts to attach to the bed. Then I have a slot for up to 4 scepter gas/water cans and a propane tank holder. Then I take it out when not camping.

Just took a look at my pictures and can’t find one haha. But similar to this metal one, just with PT wood and the width of the bed (then made four 2x2s that go up and bolt into where the rails go).

Reviews have been both for and against. I assume you have them, can you share a pic of your setup?

I wouldn't run rotopax again. Made the switch to jerry cans and never looked back.

Nato cans only for me with fuel. I have 2 mounts in the bed that bolt to the tool chest at the front of the bed. 20L Nato fuel goes on the passenger side and a 20L LCI MWC on the driver.

Nato nozzles work pretty good, but I pack an ez-siphon for fueling.

Just to be clear. Nato cans are NOT the same as USGI Jerry cans. Same with Spector MFCs, very hard to find, but supposedly better than USGI Jerry cans. Neither are as robust as a Nato can. I can put 5 gallons in my Tundra, with the spout, and lose a drop.

What issue did you have with the rotopax?

I don’t carry extra fuel on the truck but have a rotopax setup on the sxs.

not the best pic but all I’ve got. The thing I like about the rotopax setup is a lot of them don’t take up footprint of bed space.

no I think I got the sale price. I meant I wish I had known about them as I would have ordered them before I constructed the turd I created.

Gotcha! I've been wanting to make something to but know it would look shotty so it keeps getting out off. But I'm thinking their Tacoma Molle panel should fit the Tundra and that would fit my needs.
    Glad I saw this thread!

I had Jerry Cans (plastic) for a while but had the same issue with the gas bath every time used. I was in Moab one year and a buddy of mine from Canada asked me why I don't have the Spector MFC's for my cans. We looked and they were very hard to find and when you did $$$

My buddy went back home and fixed me up. He brought them to Moab with him the following year and they made a BIG difference, dry as a bone

    Why Jerry cans?
I ran with plastic Jerry's from Canada with my LandCruiser and they worked but I had them mounted inside the rig and they were fine as long as I burped them. They took up a lot of room and I had custom built carriers (one fuel one water) inside the rig so real estate was prime. I am looking to mount the RotoPax where my spare used to be

Sounds like you have plastic MFC cans that are very hard to get in the US. Supposed to be decent cans.

You actually said the benefit of the 20L NATO cans, you literally never have to burp or vent them. Hauled fuel all over the Western US and Baja without having to vent once, unless I'm fueling.

I had to burp them constantly with altitude changes and temps for sure otherwise I was afraid they would burst! They really bloated up the MFC’s
