Started my audio build, so far I have ordered JL Audio c5 and c2 components with JL XD1000.5 amp.

What would you guys recommend, 1 JL 12tw3 or 2 JL 10tw3? I would be willing to sacrifice bass for sound clarity.

I have always been told 10s are clearer than 12s the other difference is 12s will carry bass further on outside of vehicle if you want to rattle people's windows

Having the right amp and specially the right TUNED box is the main thing to do

Take a look at the Stereo Integrity BM MK V if you want sound quality

I dont run onepersonally, yet. Shallow mount SQ sub. I first came across their subs when I was researching diy subs on a handful of hometheater forums. Every review I've read of the BM MK series gives them high praise for producing bass that's clean and blends into the soundstage instead of overpowering it

I'm running c5's in the front c2's in the rear, hd900/5 and stealthbox with two 10tw3's. They sound absolutely amazing. You'll love them.

Really considering them as an option, would I have to get a custom box made for their sub?

    Two 10's
It will be tighter, cleaner bass. With two, you will get plenty of low, but without the mud. One twelve worked great in the gen1's center console, but still lacked overall control. You retain control three ways: 1. clean source. 2. Clean, powerful amp with output rms 120% of rated woofer (to account for loss). 3 quality woofer and enclosure.
The larger the woofer, the greater the power required to control it. Two 10's give the best overall performance between pounding clean bass, and depth of low frequencies. A single 12 may go lower in hz but 20" (10x2) of cone area is still better than 12" when moving air (bass). JL stealth box for a gen3 is 100% best choice for our trucks, without custom building a box.

Did you pay retail for your stealth box? Would like to get a better price, if I go that direction.

I searched around all over the place to try to find a better deal on the stealthbox but the best I could find is a scratch and dent from crutchfield. It had a tiny little scuff in the carpet. It was a couple hundred off.

If you want to save some money, you could have have James at tech12volts make you a box and put the same subs in. I almost went this route, but I've had really good luck with the JL boxes in the past, I wanted to stick with it.

I always used to use JL audio in the early 2000s but now they are just way over priced and no longer made in USA sundown....addictive audio.....and many others just as good or better and much cheaper

I have 2 10TW3-V4's in a custom box in my 14 CM behind the rear seats powered by a RF T1500-1db.Those things are amazing in both quality and volume.

Haven’t heard the JL’s but I would say two 10’s! My dual pioneer shallows sound flat out amazing vs the single subs I’ve had in other trucks.

Did you go with a sealed or ported box?
