Hi All. I have read the 2023 Tundra hybrid owners manual and can see that you can safely jump start the Tundra hybrid from another car. I want to know if the Tundra hybrid can safely jump start another car. The manual does not discuss this. I see plenty of posts about doing this with other Toyota hybrids but those systems are somewhat different from the Tundra hybrid implementation. Does anyone have a reputable source that says one way or the other?

    Thanks!

I don’t have a reliable source, but have used my 2023 Hybrid to jump start my other vehicle. Used the positive terminal in the fuse box and grounded to the driver’s side front fender under the hood. No issue starting other vehicle.

Hey Armanidog and TheLordwoulddriveaTundra. I appreciate the replies. I have ordered a Noco jump pack. I'll be out overlanding with this truck and will be glad to help other folks in a jam. So, I am mostly concerned if it's safe for my Tundra hybrid to jump other cars. Check this excerpt out from a Toyota dealership:

"Don’t use your hybrid vehicle to jump-start other vehicles too much, this can damage your vehicle’s electrical system."

It's from this page: https://www.smarttoyota.com/blogs/2398/how-to-jumpstart-your-car-this-winter/ Granted this is from a dealership and not Toyota itself. Armanidog, from what I am reading, you are right, it will work. My concern is if it is bad for the Tundra hybrid.

    Thanks again,

    R

The high voltage battery charges the 12V battery so as long as the truck is running, it should be no problem to jump another vehicle. You could jump from the 12V under the seat too.

Thanks xc_tc. Do you think there is any added safety to the Tundra to jump another car from the 12V battery under the seat? I am not clear on how sensitive the hybrid's electrical system is. Thanks!
