Just got a 2017 Tundra Crewmax with 75k miles, missfires and found sparkplug tips are rounded

Found the sparkplugs on my misfiring 75k miles old New to me 2017 Tundra.

See attached pics. Are these expected from a 75k miles truck??

Probably the previous owner was ripped off somewhere, he told me the new plugs and coils fixed the cylinder 5 misfire, passed smog too.

Anyway, I just got a set from the dealership just to make sure. I got too paranoid of the cylinder 5 misfiring on new plugs and coils and thought I might have had bad valve spring on it.

I was so relieved when I pulled the plugs and found these ugly ones in it, and misfire went away for good after replacement.

 

It would make sense the fakes would work for a short time but not worth the risk to save a few bucks. I would inspect the coils closely as well as they may be next just to be sure.

These trucks love OEM parts. I hope you have it solved completely.

 

So far so good and snooth on the new oem plugs i got, rpm is dead on. He gave me the oem coils that he replaced. The oem plugs weren't so expensive either like $11 each.

 

3 of the plugs are real and look ok. 5 are counterfeit and wear very quickly. Surprised they were firing at all. The electrodes on these are very cheap material and quickly wear away. Never buy plugs from Amazon or ebay. Rock auto is safe.

 

Look up the part number and go to your local part stores like advance auto, autozone, etc. they all should carry denso plugs. No worries bout counterfeit or trip to dealership, especially if you live over an hour away from the nearest dealership.

 

Crazy to think these days that there are fake Denso plugs.

All 8 are fake garbage. The 3 up top are new ones with perfect electrodes.

 

The 3 up top are the new oem ones I picked up from the dealer.
