I’m about to pull the trigger on the 1057XR.

I see it supports four cameras.
Does that mean I can plug my front camera in directly and remove my FRAC harness, or will I need to keep the FRAC?

Some of my customers have kept the FRAC Harness in-line with their aftermarket head units to maintain the instant access front camera view via the switch rather than clicking through various menu options. This works great as long as a plug and play adapter set is being used for the new HU. It all depends on how many menu "clicks" you have to go through to get to the cam display of your choosing and your personal preferences. I would try it both ways to see which suits your needs best.

Hi @TundraTex Can I ask a semi-related question you may or may not know the answer to?

I plan to install a beat-sonic plug n play amp to the stock head unit inline and wasn't sure if I need to put the FRAC before or after the amp wiring. Curious if you had any idea if it mattered. Below is the wiring diagram. Thanks any help is appreciated.

I’ve got a Pioneer with the Maestro RR2. I was able to program steering wheel buttons on the Maestro. Pioneer only supports 2 cameras but it works like a charm. I programmed mine to activate the front camera when I press and hold the volume button.

I recommend installing the FRAC Harness before any aftermarket wiring (i.e. connect directly to the vehicle harness). When I designed the FRAC Harness I made sure to maintain OEM functionality and maximize future growth compatibilty. Part of this approach was to wire every pin in the connectors of the FRAC Harness, even if some of those pins were not used or even wired in the vehicle harness. This added some time and cost but it ensured that any future changes or additions of function and additional wires in those connectors would still be supported by the original FRAC Harness design. So by installing the FRAC Harness first in line to the amp, you can be assured that all signals present on the vehicle harness will be passed through to the amp while maintaining FRAC Harness functionality.

Awesome! Will do. Thank you, for the response and also the careful thought and effort you put into the FRAC harness. I really can't thank you enough as I use it just about everyday.

    Working on it :-)
I eliminated my FRAC when I installed my 1057XR. There is a hard camera button that makes for quick access to camera view

Yes you can ditch the FRAC. On the DMX1057XR, it is one button to view the front camera.
