I'm surprised at how light and fragile the fob feels for my 3rd gen Tundra.
I've searched several online spots and haven't found there to be a ton of options for covers or case replacements.

Has anyone found a good aftermarket upgrade for their fob?

I have the AJT one and it is pretty nice. I would wait for an updated version if it isn't currently available though. The current one has been reported to have issues with releasing the key, which I can confirm is an issue with mine. You can't pull the key out of it without taking it apart. This isn't the end of the world for me, since I have had probably 5 vehicles with these types of keys and never actually had to use one, but it is something to note, and I need to look into whether they will swap it out or not.

Appreciated. I saw that post the other day, but was waiting to see if AJT had anything official. I'm sure I can hodgepodge together a fix but would prefer if they would cover it since it is defective.

AJT created the fix for it and has 2022 Tundra specific fobs available. I purchased this morning and it shipped already.

I have the AJT fob for the 3rd Gen Tundra (had one for my 5th Gen 4R as well). I've seen the issues being reported about the key removal. After I read that, I tested mine. Mine can be a little tough to take out, but I can remove it every time.

How often do you find yourself having to remove the key? My wife's previous car had push to start and I don't think we had a need to remove the physical key from the fob in the 4 years we had that vehicle.

Likely never, but it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Received the AJT fob today and swapped. I ordered the afternoon of Sep 6th. Pretty happy with it. Valet key comes out with what I feel is the perfect amount of resistance.

I used a cover for a few months, but recently got the AJT. I stayed away from it for a while because I thought it went over the original fob and assumed it was huge. Not the case. You take the fob guts out of your original and install in the new AJT housing. Very happy with it.

Received my case yesterday and am totally satisfied with AJT covers. They have corrected the issue with the spring and the case has additional plastic filling in the void that was causing an issue.
I like the sticker and informational cards that came in the packaging. Everything about the purchase was top notch.

    Does it reduce transmission range?

I had the AJT OG “TRD” one for my Taco before Toyota got after him.

But it held up so well, I got two new ones when I got my Tundra.

Are there any smaller variants of this?
Something smaller than the OEM fob cover?

I’m sure someone may come out with a “minimalist” fob eventually. But the fob chip limits how small they can go. In order to make it smaller, they will have design with the understanding that you’re gonna have to give up your key portion and just go with the electronic portion.

Yes, that is pretty much what I'm looking for.
Any idea if there's any company working on something like that?

im sure either MESO customs or AJT Designs will come up with one. MESO already said he’s working on a interior lighting upgrade for the poor OEM lighting that comes standard. Gonna have wait, man
