    Hey all.

My town and the neighbouring city have seen a huge increase in car theft, so it’s got me a bit on edge. I already have a cat shield and cameras on the driveway (can’t fit the crew cab +6.5 in the garage), but I’ve been looking to immobilize the truck somehow.

I saw this throttle enhancer gadget on a video that unlocks acceleration, but also has a killer feature that cuts the gas pedal signal so that the car could be on but it won’t go anywhere. It also has a valet mode so that the car can go above a certain speed. Looks good but if they knew what they were looking for, the plugs can just be disconnected quickly and away she goes. https://www.beatsonicusa.com/shiftpower.html

Im looking to do this with just a simple switch that is hidden to cut off fuel. A battery cut off will immobilize a lot of features like Toyota connect if it is towed so a fuel cut off seems like the way to go. Has anyone done this on their?

My solution was to put a simple on-off switch in series with the starter relay coil. Disables the starter motor relay circuit.

Look at Ravelco. They are ugly, but hard to defeat.

Do you have a photo or diagram of how you did this? Did you put the switch in the cabin somewhere?

Thanks for the idea. Certainly looks ugly but I guess I could fit it somewhere in the driver footwell. Definitely is pricy for what it is - up here it is $903 CAD or $667 USD

New to kill switches so pardon the ignorant question
-Does this prevent you from doing remote starts?

You not in the Vancouver/Victoria area are you?
Asking because I visit that those areas quite often so it would be nice to know/be aware for our next trip if that’s the case.

Any kill switch device would prevent remote starts.

The relay coil wiring under the front driver side fuse\relay block was cut and spliced into the switch I added. Yes the remote start is defeated. All types of starts are defeated when the relay coil circuit is open. I decided to buy and use the OEM Auto side step switch for 86 bucks (mySR5 does not have this option) and installed it in the proper location in the lower left dash beneath the Cargo light rocker switch. It does not look to be an 'add-on' switch and is easily accessed by me. I also installed a 'decoy switch' in one of the blanks in that same switch panel. I ran the new wires thru the firewall alongside the hood release cables and into the front wire harness entry point into the fuse block.
The toughest part was getting to the relay coil white\black wire which is easy to find under the relay itself thru the opening in the fuse block but a bit of a challenge to cut and splice.

Depends on how it's wired. You can have a kill switch disable the starter from the ignition button and still have a remote start function properly. I had a RS on my CRX and funny as it was, my key switch starter output went caput so I had to still turn the key to "on" and then have the RS crank the car.
Years ago, I've seen a relay wired to the headlights so the starter wouldn't get the signal unless the lights were on.
To OP, any extra steps or buttons will help prevent theft. You could go a step further and get an aftermarket alarm or even as basic as a keyless entry. Wire it up so that the output triggers a relay to connect or open the starter circuit.

Just a though on a poor man's alarm...

Maybe a motion detector inside the truck would be helpful too. Here's one that I've used and it does have impressive range and the software does work well. The range is not the 1/4 mile they advertise, but from a hotel parking lot I was unable to find a location in the hotel where it did not reach. https://www.amazon.com/YoLink-Speak...qid=1672419262&sprefix=yolink,aps,142&sr=8-51

You would have to turn it off when you wanted to use the truck, or maybe the other way around turn it on only when you were most concerned about theft. They also have a loud alarm that will wake up the dead that works well too. I found the motion sensor to be quite sensitive so placement in the truck to avoid false triggers is important.

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
That seems to be an ideal solution. I have a Limited and thought of an OEM switch, but I would definitely need someone to do the work. I don’t trust myself that much with the wiring. If you have any pictures of the install that would be great.

I do not have pictures, sorry. I might suggest searching the I-Net for a company that makes custom kill switch kits. I do not remember their name. I have CRS.
