Both of these tires are now offered in 285/70r18, which is the size I’m moving up to from 275. Looks like the Wildpeaks are about $200 per set cheaper right now. I currently have Cooper rugged treks, and I’ve like them a lot until the last 5k miles (45k-50k)…. They have gotten so loud. Would buy them again but I just like to mix things up.

I drive on road about 90% of the time, but most of the summer and fall I do quite a bit of slow off-roading out here in Colorado.

Are these tires basically a wash these days? If so, I’ll just go with the Wildpeaks. Looking for opinions!

Not sure on your size, but about six weeks ago I put on a set of Yokohama Geolander AT XD in 285/75 18 and I'm quite satisfied with them so far. The price was very attractive, but it increased by about $80 per tire right after my purchase from the same supplier. Not sure why. Good luck!

285/75 is a little bit taller than I want to go. Also, I feel like the tread on those AT XDs is about as aggressive as the tread on my Rugged Treks and I think that’s more than I need, but good deals are hard to pass up! I’ll take a look at prices

Prior to that I ran the Yokohama GO15 and they were awesome too. Just wanted to give the newly designed commercial tire a chance to prove itself this time around.

Yokohama just came out with the Geolander AT4, but sizing is pretty limited and they don't have a 285/70r18. At least not yet! I liked the look and the price though!

I have not run the wild peak AT4W but they were my backup option to the KO3 tires. Nothing but good things to say about the BFGs. Rain performance is an improvement over the KO2 and personally I don’t think you can beat it appearance wise. Given your use case, which is similar to mine, I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

AT4's, pretty crappy in the wet. I have a set 295/70/18. I have even lowered my PSI to accommodate but making little difference. Quite disappointed compared to the AT3's which had better wet traction.

Thanks for this! I don’t get a lot of rain where I’m at, but I’ve got little kids so safety is a priority.

I ordered at4w's today in 265/70/17. Will see soon how they hold up. Been getting a lot of rain lately.

AT4's, pretty awesome in the wet and it had been really wet.

That’s funny… bigbadpoppa says they are no good in the rain. I’m sure they’re all good!

Ran the Yokohama GO15's in plenty of wet and fast moving multi lane highway traffic without any traction issues whatsoever. Maybe checkout some reviews on YT or similar. A great tire doesn't have to be super costly.

Any insight into how they would handle some moderate off-roading? I always go slow, but sometimes I have to negotiate larger rocks, mud, creeks… etc

Be sure to check the weight for each tire. I was planning to buy the AT4 next but they are significantly heavier than the KO3 in my size. Like ~20% more. For that reason alone, I'm buying the KO3's next.

They did fine off-road, even in really soupy mud and sharp rocks, sicks, etc. Great on ice as well and not noisy at all either. Zero regrets and would/likely will buy them again.

My only real problem is they don’t offer 275/70r18 or 285/70r18!

285/75 18 would only be about a half inch more sidewall height than the 285/70. A little bit more weight too, and a little more speedometer difference. Good luck with your decision!

This calculator says 285/75 would be over an inch taller? Close to 35”!

lol 4 lbs heavier is significant? Perhaps that’s because the AT4s have thicker tread. I would take thicker tread for longer life

Correct, like I said, about a half inch on the sidewall height. 1/2 at the lower sidewall plus 1/2 at the upper sidewall equals around an inch overall. Sorry if you didn't grasp it the way I described it.

very noticeable on incline hills. I need to feather that pedal. My prior AT3's (OE) wouldn't need as much feathering. KO3's are just as bad, had a set before (can't say AT4 vs KO3's are any different in wet traction, but AT3's were def better).

Oh gotcha. That does actually make sense. I’m truck is only 1” higher than stock all around, and I don’t want the wheel wells to look too stuffed. Not sure if 285/75 would make it look too full, but I’m pretty sure 285/70 will fit easy!

I kick around in my head about getting A/T tires but, mainly be for the look and we can get some bad snow. I worry a lot about the wet traction that’s a big turn off for me. I fish a lot and last thing I want is to be the googan squealing on the ramp.
