Just ordered my 6112’s and I see folks mentioning adding KYB Top Hats.

    :newbie alert :
    Is this a must do?
Why and what do they do?

    ‘18 W/20k miles
    Thanks

Having a secondary top hat is necessary if you intend to leave your stockers intact (coil & shock still attached). Lots of folks find this makes the stockers easier to resell.

If you don’t have a secondary top hat (like KYB) to build the 6112s, you have to break down the stockers to get the stock top hat off in order to build the 6112s.

Not a must do. From the factory, the 6112s reuse the top hat of your existing stock shock meaning once you get the stock shock out of the truck you need to move the top hat parts to the new shock. Getting a new top hat allows you to fully assemble the 6112 before you pull out the old shock making your install a little quicker/easier.

Ahhh makes sense now. Thank you! I’ll go ahead and pickup the KYBs

It’s easier to purchase the KYB top hats. Note: 1 top hat per package, so you need to order 2. I purchased these KYB’s on Amazon for $39 all in.

What’s a good resale price on the stock Bilstein/spring assembly? Only 1,000 miles on them. Installing 6112’s

    Tastefully enhanced...
Depends how fast you want to get rid of them...$300 will go slow, $100 much faster...you didn't buy the Billy's with the thought of selling your OEM...just pay it forward to folk...at least, that's my intention when I post mine up...I don't need them taking up shop space and I don't intend on going back to stock...

I gave mine away because they’re 12/$.10. See @HulkSmurf14 ‘s post above for sound advice.
